Description: (from garmin.com)
Deep foliage, nor canyons faze the rugged eTrex Vista HCx. Its high-sensitivity receiver holds a GPS signal in the toughest environments. Similar to the Vista Cx, this handheld navigator also has a bright color screen, barometric altimeter, electronic compass, microSD card slot and automatic routing for wherever adventure takes you.

ProsAll of the options. Multiple colors for tracks, comes with above basic maps installed. Even with out learning much about the unit you can go out, turn it on and use it right out of the box.
ConsTook forever to learn how to use it due to all of the options and features.
VerdictBuy it. I have used this for a year now and love it; even works in the house due to the high sensitivity antenna. Has a great handle bar mount available and is perfect on a mountain bike.

ProsHuge number of features and customization. Includes basic map editing software and am above average basic map set installed. Works great to fond the trail and to map it once your there.
ConsHuge number of features makes for a steep learning curve. Barometric altimeter is tough to calibrate reliably and is sometimes unreliable. Would be great if you could track elevation with GPS. Additional maps are expensive.
VerdictI've used this unit for a little over a year now and have nothing but outstandning results. It has an outstanding display, very bright and large enough to navigate with while riding. The high sensitivity antenna gets acceptable reception in almost any cover short of a cave and gives outstanding resolution in open areas. The expandable memory through micro SD cards is fantastic, allowing you to store multiple map sets and change out to suit your needs, though the unit will not store even close to 1gb worth of maps onto a card so a 2gb card is sorta overkill. The units route storage takes a miniscule amount of memory so a 1gb card could hold a rout covering half of a state, or a week worth of riding without a problem. Overall this is a fantastic unit with only minor issues. Great for anyone looking for a great all around gps unit.
