Description: Nice scenery trail up in the foothills/mountains that is fairly secluded. I've never seen another biker on it. To get some warmup in, start at the South end of the lake, as the North end starts climbing immediately. There are a couple of minor technical sections, but nothing too serious. There is a couple of very steep sections, but not too long. It's quite short, as the 7.7 miles is doing the entire trail as an out-and-back, even though there is a loop in there. Probably do the loop at least twice for a good workout.

This is a nice little trail but not worth the drive unless you live in the Berthoud or Loveland area. The section around the lake is super easy and then the Shoshone loop up to the northwest of the reservoir has some short technical and steep sections to it. It's a short ride and the scenery is not as pristine as some might like. My take is that if you have to drive more than a half an hour to get here, you'll probably be disappointed.
