Pros: Same great graphics as the lower specced model. Better components though. Long lasting shimano bits. Disc brakes.

Cons: Not a fan of the Tektros. Needs rebound damping on the fork.

Recommendation: A better option for beginners looking to start the sport.

Model/Year: 2011 Talus 4.0

Pros: Matte Hunter Green color looks great, frame fits good, handles well. Disc brakes are powerful enough and the fork does what I need it to do.

Cons: Tires had to go, Kenda Happy Mediums are now installed on DT Swiss wheels.

Recommendation: I love this bike. I converted it to single-speed. Upgraded the wheels and tires. Only paid 400 for it out the door. Sweet deal! Way better than my previous Trek bikes.

Pros: Good price on a 50/50 mtb. Long lasting Shimano parts. Disc brakes.

Cons: A wider tire would give this bike better handling and off road capability

Recommendation: If you really want to get dirty, go for the Yukon
