| Verdict | This is a follow-up to my initial review.
This unit now stops logging the track if the GPS signal is lost temporarily, rather than picking up where it left off. There is no way to know it has done this until you get home and look at the saved track.
I have tried to contact their tech support and they are unresponsive.
I can still successfully log tracks by connecting to it with my Blackberry via bluetooth, but I specifically had gotten a logging device in order to avoid that.
So bottom line, I still get what I need out of it, and it was only $59.00, but buyer beware! |

| Pros | -Compact size and a shape that fits well in my hydration pack.
-Excellent battery life, it has no problem getting the 9+ hours advertised.
-GPS signal acquires fast, reception is excellent, even in trees or in a car.
-64 megs of internal memory provides plenty of room for creating tracks.
-Pairs easily with cell phones for added mapping functionality. | | Cons | -The provided software is poorly documented and a little hard to figure out.
-Seems to be picky about pairing with bluetooth enabled computers.
It works perfectly with my desktop and a $7.99 USB bluetooth adapter, and one laptop with built-in. but not at all with my wife's laptop with built in bluetooth.
-Does not include a car charger | | Verdict | I bought this to replace a DeLorme Bluelogger that had died. This unit is conceptually identical, but advances in production have made it smaller, better shaped and with replaceable battery that should allow it to function for years to come.
Unlike other models, this unit does not bundle any mapping software, and is therefore much more affordable. It can pair with a bluetooth laptop or phone and pretty much any mapping software of the user's choice.
More to the point, it can be turned on tossed into a backpack and it will log the entire trip. Upon returning home, sync it up to a computer with the included software and download the track for use in Google Earth, here at Singletracks, etc. Just be sure to download the latest version from the manufacturer's website, as the shiping version has some Engrish in. ;) |
