Description: (from mongoose.com)
The fully loaded Mongoose Blackcomb is as tough as they come, with a 4-bar vertical spring dual suspension that just gobbles bumps for breakfast. EZ Fire shifters let you adjust to terrain changes with quick, precise shifting. And ProMax disc brakes provide sure stopping in even the muddiest, sloppiest conditions.

ProsIt is a great bike the best at wal-mart. The double suspension is terrific on the bike. The gears do have to be mess with right away. I love it. It is a tall bike and has a gret seat. The double disc are great. I recommend this bike totally.
ConsHow you have to mess with the gears right off the bat.
VerdictI recommend the bike.

ProsThe suspension actually feels matched,a rare quality in Wal-Mart bikes.I like the frame geometry and how it "perches" you over the pedals better than an XC style bike for drops and ladder bridges.
ConsThe cheap components, the triggers are better than grip shifters but are horrible compared to separate trigger/lever combos
VerdictI'm about 5' 10" and 225# and the suspension and frame seem decent for my weight and size.I'd not recommend this to many people unless they were on a tight budget like I currently am.I wanted to make sure riding was something I plan to stick with for awhile and this was a cheap way to find out without being so low quality that I would not enjoy riding at all.

ProsI look good riding it, handsome as come, feels sturdy for 250lb rider
ConsWheels may need truing from simple jumps, shifting is way off.
VerdictI am in love with this bike ever since I saw it. I have not seen a bike that I like this much for its price. If you are not fat get this and get it tuned by a bike shop. If you are heavy like me, Walmart rims are way weak so be careful.

ProsPrice, great noobie bike
ConsNeeded a tune up right away. Added some upgrades.
VerdictMy first MTB and I have had no problems. The pedals that came with it were very flimsy and replaced those right away. I highly recommend getting this bike tuned right away. After tune up, its been a great ride on trails and roads.

ProsThis bike turned into one of the best hybrid/road/comfort bikes I own when geared up with a rear rack, Kenda Kwest road tires, a frame pump, a bell light kit, and a water bottle.
ConsSlightly below what I would consider an entry level mountain bike, crank bearings went bad after only 2 months of mild road riding (mine only got trail ridden twice).
VerdictGood for a hybrid conversion, your not so aggressive riding wife/kid, or the not so hardcore weekend rider.

Prosprice. good starter bike.I have one as a "rain bike".With TLC in works. If this bike gets you out of the house and you enjoy it, that's all that matters!
Consvery heavy, i.e sturdy. Needs to be adjusted/ tuned-up often. Lub and tighten EVERYTHING! The bottom-bracket in mine starter to make a "clunk", needed grease.
VerdictFor the money it's a good "starter bike", but if you are an avid rider you will tire of it quickly.I have a cannondale rise, gary fisher tassajara also. If you don't ride much, the mongoose will do the job, and makes a nice clothes hanger as it sits in you apartment. Before you slap down a couple grand for a nice(entry-level)bike, as I stated, If it get you out of the house and you burn some calories your $300 bucks was well spent! Take some time to learn to do your own adjustments, gears, brakes,...etc.

ProsSturdy.
ConsWAY to heavy, very bad for trails due to the weight, count on getting stuck in the mud.
VerdictSave an extra bit of money and get something light......

ProsSturdy frame good price and componets nice look..
ConsComponets are ok but will need to be upgraded within 6mons if ur an aggressive MTB person....Ugly decals
VerdictI grade this bike with a C+ average..This is a great beginner bike and with care and a few upgrades on componets this is an awsome bike and ive rode them all..Its def not the best bike but for the money it can hold its own.....

ProsReal sturdy frame for the non-aggressive XC rider and/or noobie.
ConsCheap components. Some serious upgrades needed. Needs some way better customer service. They suck.
VerdictGood bike for noobies and the casual rider. Better be strong to pump that tank of a frame around.

ProsI have the older 2005 model which has better craftmanship. It makes a great introductory MTB, but a great MTB if the OK components are upgraded. It does make a great all around bike for noobs or just to a bag around MTB.
ConsComponents are not high quality and it will need these components to be upgraded if you choose to ride hard XC or AM MTB'ing.
VerdictA great MTB for all around usage and makes a great introductry MTB.
