| Pros | No fuss, came pre-bled, easy to install, easy to adjust, no problems after 2 years | | Cons | Since they were pre-bled I decided to just leave the rear hose longer than I would have otherwise. Cable/hose length on my bikes is one of my "things" | | Verdict | I have a set with a 180 front rotor and a 160 rear - a great set up. Lots of very controllable stopping power. I have not touched them since I installed them 2 years ago. Lighter than lots of other hydro brake systems out there. |

| Pros | Value, power, modulation, light weight, & factory leak-proof warranty | | Cons | Replacement parts & pads are more expensive than domestice brake systems. | | Verdict | These brakse are great for riders looking at getting their first set of hydraulic brakes. A lot of entry level high-end mountain bikes come with Hayes Sole, Shimano Deore, or Avid Juicy3 brakes, but the Magura Julies offer better stopping power, weight, and value. It's a shame that Julies aren't spec'ed on American bikes as are the Sole, Deore or Juicy3's.
The Magura Julies would be an excellent choice for any weight-conscious XC rider. |
