| Pros | This bike is great! A amazing build for the money. | | Cons | None so far. | | Verdict | I switched out the riser bar for a flat bar and added cane creek locking grips and ergo control bar ends. The bike is dialed now :). The brakes (Avid BB7) are simple, yet effective. The fork (Rock Shox Reba SL) is plush and the lockout is a nice feature. The Sram X7 drivetrain is fast and precise. I love the 29" wheels. The bike is fast, smooth and fairly light (28 lbs stock in 16" frame). This bike is an excellent value. I've seen lots of people slagging Ibex on forums, but they seem to put out a solid product for a reasonable price. The bike arrived fast and was packaged really nicely. | | Recommended for: Anyone |
| Cons | FENDER UPDATE: Topeak Defenders fit well. | | Verdict | Don't let the MSRP fool you. This bike sells direct for $999 from www.ibexbikes.com
I'm 6'-1" & 250lbs; the REBA Dual Air shocks perform great for me at 160lbs pressure.
50 hard trail miles in the past 2 weeks with no issues. I'm extremely happy with this bike. | | Recommended for: Clydesdales |
| Cons | Minor annoyance finding fenders for the REBA when using the remote lockout, because the cable interferes with typical front fender designs that mount on the underside of the top of the fork.
Also, not enough space to mount typical aftermarket kickstand... keep a tree handy. ;-)
Depending on your riding conditions/habits, you may never need these anyway. | | Verdict | This is the best bang for the buck of any 29er out there, period. You can't go wrong for the price of the components alone. The bike requires some minor assembly/adjustments out of the box, and IBEX includes all the necessary tools/manuals in the package. Optional accessories are an extra bargain at the time of bike purchase. They also ship within the same box.
Follow the instructions, and set up the REBA dual air for your weight, and off you go. The bike is beautiful. | | Recommended for: Value seekers | |
