Pros
Brakes are dependable.
SPDs are what one expects.
Wide-stance handlebar.

Cons
Bike is HEAVY.
Stock Shimano rear derailleur poor component, upgraded to XTR.
Bike is HEAVY.
Rear shifting has NEVER worked smoothly, even with new rear delailleur, new cables and new cable housings.
Chain needed to be replaced in first 30 days.
Bike creaks; I have had the bike serviced numersous times, but the creak never goes away; was told that "GTs just make noise, always have."
Stock rims go out of true with nearly every ride (and I am NOT an extreme rider).
Rear shock does not lock out.
"Pedal bob" with rear suspension, no matter what others say.
Center of gravity is higher on this bike than any other I have ridden (Specialized, Mongoose, Kona, and Jamis, for example).

Did I mention that this bike is HEAVY? I mean, really heavy. I'm 6 feet, weigh 180, and have ridden MTBs for 15 years. This was my entry into the FS realm, and man do I have buyer's remorse. I should have saved for a few more months and gotten the Specialized I am now saving for. I purchased this bike in May, 2010, and have about 800 miles on it. I have fought this bike for every mile I have ridden it. In October, Specialized had a bike demo in my city. I was reminded why I had ridden Specialized for years prior to what I thought was a well-researched and test-driven switch to GT. Wrong! Save your money, and shop around. This GT will hang in my garage, unridden. I would rather rent a quality bike every time I ride between now and when I buy the Specialized I should have purchased in the first place. Know anyone who wants to buy a used GT Marathon that has been serviced way too many times in 6 months? I want bike OUT of my garage.

Pros
Very decent component kit for bikes in this price range; great handling and stopping power; quick lock-out on fork is an easy switch; soaks up trail obstacles nicely; gearing seems ideal and I-Drive seems to work well for climbing; clean design looks like it means business

Cons
Not much to dislike although since I am 200 lbs +, it does bottom out now and then; I'm concerned about the stock seat post clamp as it seems to loosen with riding and flex too much--will likely have to upgrade this; a little heavy at 34 lbs all dressed out to ride.

I love this bike so far, especially considering I got it for a song on a year-end clearance deal. I would recommend it to casual or experienced XC riders.

Cons
a little heavy, bottoms out rear shock pretty easily on bigger obstacles

Review
all around great first full suspension bike. good components but could use better crankset. i would recommend this bike to someone looking for a good all around full suspension bike.

Pros
Full suspension, great kit, sucks up the rocks like a champ, and climbs like a demon. I-drive 4 is impressive.

Cons
Shimano Dior shifters take up alot of space on the handlebars and the Brake levers aren't very adjustable.

Review
I love this bike. It looks good clean and looks good dirty. comes with great kit to start out with. Oh and I-Drive 4 works great.
