Black Friday and Cyber Monday MTB Deals

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

In case you hadn’t noticed, stores are kicking off their holiday deals early this year and everyone – from local bike shops to online retailers – is offering something for mountain bikers. Here’s the low down on places to save some green on MTB gear this weekend.

Local Bike Shops

You’ll have to check with your local shop but based on what we’re hearing, there should be some great deals out there this weekend. A couple shops near us are offering 12-month, zero interest financing on large purchases and Andy Jordan’s in Augusta is offering $50-$1000 off select bikes plus a 20% off coupon for Camelbak products. Get on your local bike shop’s email list to keep up with the latest deals!

HucknRoll Festivus Sale

HucknRoll has some huge deals this month like 60% off the Six Six One Evolution helmet and 50% off Maloja Freeride shorts. You can also find complete bikes from Santa Cruz, Yeti, Kona, and Rocky Mountain at HucknRoll at up to 40% off (like the Rocky Mountain Element 30 MSL for $1,750, normally $2,999).

Performance Bike: 20% off everything

Performance Bike has more than 100 stores in 18 states and this Friday through Sunday they’re offering 20% off everything in the store between 9am and 2pm. The company is also offering select Black Friday deals like $14.99 jerseys and shorts and a $39.99 Bell Delirium MTB helmet.

Pricepoint End of the Year Blowout

If you can view the Pricepoint End of the Year Blowout ad without going into seizures you’ll find there are some good deals in there. The ad claims savings up to 97% on 800+ items from frames to pedals and brakes. If anyone happens to find the 97% off item(s), let us know – we want in!

REI: Winter Sale

REI is running their winter sale through Monday and in addition to discounts up to 30%, they’re also offering a daily deal on the website. Sadly it’s too late to get the Niterider MiNewt Mini 150 for $69.99 (normally $120) but there are still five days of deals remaining (today’s deal: a Columbia half zip top for $39.99). Take a look at these cycling-specific deals available during the Winter Sale.

Singletracks: $10 off Memberships

Our first ever Black Friday / Cyber Monday deal! Get $10 off your Pro, Trail, or Training membership through midnight Monday, November 28 when you use this link and enter the code GRAVY1.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday Mountain Bike Deals

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

Aside from mountain biking, we can’t think of any reason to wake up at 4am on Friday – unless, of course, it’s for deals on mountain bike stuff. Fortunately most of the Black Friday deals we’ve spotted don’t require a wake-up call which leaves you free to ride early Friday morning. :)

JensonUSA

Jenson’s Black Friday “Week of Deals” actually kicked off earlier this week and the best part is you can shop in your shorts liners. A couple of deals that caught our eyes: Hayes Stroker Carbon Brakes ($99) and Syncros FL Stems for $29.99.

REI

With a reasonable 8am opening at most stores on Black Friday, REI is hoping to lure the “post-ride” crowd with $20 gift cards to the first 150 customers. The company is also promoting a winter sale which sorta leaves out the bike stuff – whatever happened to off-season pricing?

Your Local Bike Shop

Don’t assume big box and online retailers are the only ones with smokin’ deals on Black Friday. Drop by your LBS to see what’s on sale – you might be surprised!

Pricepoint

Pricepoint has a Black Friday sale happening now that’s “4 days only,” though it’s not clear when it started or when (if?) it will end. I found a 29er tire for less than $18 and a name-brand 200 lumen LED headlamp for just $119. Get on it before the best stuff is gone.

DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w SE

We wrote about DeLorme’s mack-daddy GPS that’s paired with the SPOT Satellite Communicator back in October and this week a little birdie emailed us about a $240 discount at shop.delorme.com. With the discount you’re still looking at over $450 plus $30 a year but hey, at least you get free shipping. Still, compared to other recreational GPS units, this one is a good value since it includes maps and the text-anywhere feature.

Nashbar

Arni Nashbar sold out years ago but the company is carrying on his tradition with huge deals for the holidays. Right now “Turkey Day Specials” are up to 70% off but we’d like to point out Turkey Day isn’t actually until tomorrow.

Chainlove

At Chainlove pretty much everyday is Black Friday so be sure to check in often for the best deals. We even pipe the deal feed to our mountain bike deals page so you can see what’s on sale at the moment.

More MTB Holiday Deals

Monday, December 7th, 2009

ellsworth_discount

Hey everyone, sorry for the late post today. There’s still a great article by element22 about AM stuff from Easton coming later this evening but in the meantime thought I’d share just a couple items that I’ve been collecting:

Ellsworth is offering buyers $500 off a new rig! All you have to do is bring in a bike to donate to Trips for Kids to your Ellsworth dealer and they’ll hook it up. Remember what I was saying about doing good this season? Now you can do good AND get a reward (as if you needed one anyway).

JensonUSA is holding their “12 Days of Christmas” sale again this year and somehow we’re already on Day 2 (is Christmas really coming that soon?). Today’s deal is 44% off the Camelbak Octane 8+ which got a 5-star rating here on singletracks. Can’t wait to see what the deal is tomorrow!

We’re also collecting funds to help out one of our members, Bombardier, get some of his stuff out of storage. If you read the forum thread and want to help out, hit me (Jeff) up on the contact page and I’ll let you know what to do.

Black Friday Bike Gear Deals

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

jenson_black_friday

I’m not really much of a shopper but when I hear “bike gear deals” my ears tend to perk up. Here’s a quick run down on deals to be had on Black Friday, November 27, 2009.

REI is giving away gift cards and reusable shopping bags to the first 300 customers through the door Friday morning. The gift cards will range in value from $5 to $100 and doors open at a leisurely 8 am. Sweet.

JensonUSA has put together some online Black Friday deals that will be available starting at 12:01 am Pacific time (that’s 3:01 am for us east coasters). Not sure exactly what the deals will be but be sure to check the JensonuUSA homepage early to see what’s on sale!

Performance Bike is offering 20% off to customers who shop between 9am and 12 noon on Black Friday (and also on Saturday and Sunday). The discount seems to cover EVERYTHING including bikes so if you’re thinking of getting a new rig, now may be the time. In addition Performance is giving customers 20% off online purchases over $75 today and Thanksgiving day. Nashbar.com is offering the same online discount.

HuckNRoll doesn’t seem to have a Black Friday deal per se but they have put together a slick looking holiday gift guide. Also be sure to check out their Spring & Summer gear sale where stuff is up to 50% off.

Pricepoint.com is holding their “Biggest Sale of the Year” through December 31 but then again, they always seem to be having a sale.

Know of other bike gear Black Friday deals? Post ‘em up in the comments!

Singletracks T-shirt Sale – Just $10 Each

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

singletracks-shirt

We’re getting ready to do another printing of the singletracks t-shirts so to clear out our current inventory we’re offering the shirts for just 10 bones each. Still on the fence?

  • 100% of the proceeds from your purchase will go to IMBA. We print the shirts for about $6-7 each so IMBA gets a few bucks for every shirt you buy.
  • Get 2 free singletracks stickers with each t-shirt in your order this month.
  • Shipping is still just $3 no matter how many shirts you order.
  • No small t-shirts available at this time and mediums and 2XLs are getting low. Order now to reserve yours before we print more (and raise the price).

Ellsworth is offering $700 off new mountain bikes!

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Guess my predictions about MTB price trends were a little too conservative – Ellsworth is taking it to the next level! Basically the deal is if you send them your old (functional) bike frame they’ll give you $700 off a new Ellsworth mountain bike (or road bike if you’re so inclined). Details below.

Get Your BAILOUT here! Wondering how YOU can benefit from the Government bailout plan? Let us know when you figure it out. Meanwhile, here’s a bailout you can have some of!

This month, Ellsworth is providing you the opportunity to bail out of your existing bike and get on the road or trail to economic recovery with a new, 100% USA Made Ellsworth MTB or road frame.

We’ll give you $700 bailout money!

Through March 31, 2009 and limited to stock on hand, send us a functional MTB or road frame and we’ll give you $700 towards any new, in stock Ellsworth MTB or road frame. We’ll be “bailing out” kids in need of bikes, so please be sure it is in good working condition.

We’ll bailout underprivileged kids by donating your old bike!

Due to the Paperwork Reduction Act, which Ellsworth supports, to get started here’s all you have to do:

1. Call us and get a Return Authorization # for the frame you’re bailing out of (760-788-7500)
OR take it to any Ellsworth Authorized Dealer or your local bike shop and have them call
us for the RA#
2. Clean up and ready the frame to ship, stripped of any components you want to keep.
OR take it to any Ellsworth Dealer and have them clean and ship it to us!

Riding bikes is something we can all afford to do! It’s recession proof transportation, it’s fitness and recreation, and it clears the head and heart so you can stay focused and productive in difficult times.

The Ellsworth Bailout Plan is a great opportunity to Buy American and improve your own state of well being with cycling and improve the state of well being of those less privileged at the same time (you’ve heard of win/win?). Everyone can get on the trail or road and participate in the American Dream of health, fitness and transportation that is independent of the world economy and energy dependence. Buying American has never made more sense!

If you have any questions, please contact the Ellsworth Sales Office at 760-788-7500.
