Too good to be true: Free lift-serviced downhill!

posted August 22, 2007 by trek7k

There are new downhill mountain bike trails at SolVista Ski Resort near Winter Park in Colorado and this summer it’s free to ride the lifts on weekends! The trails are getting rave reviews from pros and weekend warriors alike and it’s probably due to the fact that the trails were designed and built by riders.

I actually skied out at SolVista once and had a blast, they have some decent terrain plus it’s rarely crowded (though it is much smaller than most resorts). Apparently SolVista is on private land (unlike some other resorts that lease land from the National Forest Service) so there aren’t alot of limits on the types of trails that can be built there. The word is that there will be even more trails next year, sounds like SolVista is becoming the place to ride downhill…
