My old stomping ground. It's still a fun ride with lots of trails being added on all the time. Very sandy. i didn't come across anything that felt like I might kill myself going down with the exception of one little toyground in the middle with some ewok engineering and gap jumps. It's not common there.

Fairly rooty but easy trails. Maps all most intersections and great reflective trail blazes on trees. Only technical area was blue trails, which had a few tricky spots. Very well maintained trails though and worth the trip if you are in the area.

Evolving trails growing bigger every year. Close to 20 miles of trails, well maintained. A good mix of beginner to advanced areas. Some are more fun if rode backward.Trail entrance from UWF was closed for a little while, not sure if it's open again. Access from Pate Rd. trail head/parking lot. New trail sections being cut in all the time.

NOT maintained at all! I asked a campus officer where to find the trail, he told me to park in parking lot G. I did.. I had a difficult time finding the trail due to it being covered with trees, and not clear enough to ride. Made the best of it, cause i love to ride.. got back to my truck and got a parking ticket! LOL. what a deal.. i will not go back..

I started on the north side of Pate Road where the clay pits and Hangman trails are. I was turned off by all the broken glass and trash. A couple of locals were fixing up a couple washed up sections. This side is primarily a paint ball playground and is motocross ridden. Best to go on the south side of Pate Road. The south side has more than 10 miles of trails, and is well kept and very well marked. Maps are available by the trailhead entrance off of the Pate Road parking lot. Mostly singletrack, some doubletrack, and popular enough to have 10 cars in the lot on a 45 degree day. Not very technical, you can cruise right along, theres some small jumps here and there, twists and turns, and under the powerlines some riders have made a few connecting jumps which were fun to it. Overall it's a alright trail system (on the south side anyways) with some Florida-grade hills and plenty of trails to keep you occupied for a couple of hours.

Haven't ridden this trail since around May 06 because I moved to northern GA, but I know these trails well, have ridden them for years (I lived in Baldwin Co, AL-halfway between Pensacola and Mobile). The person who reviewed these before me was definitely in the wrong place. The Main trailhead is on UWF campus, park at the Water tower. If you have your back to the road and facing the water tower, the trailhead starts to your right, by the stairs into the woods. This is a network of many trails with many types of terrain. I usually could ride it in a semi-loop which would total 12-15 miles depending on which sections I linked. It's all singletrack with the exception of the powerlines (which there are 3 set of powerlines that look alike so print a map from PORC...Pensacola Off-road cyclists website). In one section of power lines there were some jumps and drops. There was a 6' drop to transition that was sweet but last time I was there, someone had messed up the landing. There is also a section called the Chute which is really more like a natural halfpipe, it's about 1/4 mile long and close to 20 feet tall in parts. It's really fun to play in and build some skills. There are some decent hills throughout these trails, bigger hills than anything in Mobile. There's a good bit of sand in sections, it's nice to ride a day or two after rain when the sandy parts have been packed down. There are some wooden bridges through the swamp. "Treehugger" is a section that I remember has some nice flow, it goes into "Cambodia which is really tight. The best downhill-ish part was heading towards the power plant I can't remember the name of the trail but I linked it from "Coke can". anyways, It had some nice natural drops in the trail. (My wife didn't like this section). All-in-all, this was my trail of choice for the area. Oh, yeah, there is another trailhead on the road that heads to the power plant, Nine mile road I think is the name. One last thing: this trail is hot as hell in the middle of summer, bring lots of water and bug repellent (you'll only need the bug spray if you plan on stopping during the ride or going slow enough for the mosquitos and yellow flys to catch you)

Similar Trail: Maybe Chicasabogue and USA trails in Mobile, Even a little Swayback in Wetumpka (if you added sand to swayback and made the hills a little smaller)

I wasn't impressed with these trails because they were more like pathways that had to be shared with students resulting in constant interruptions.

Very nice complex of trails here on campus. I go to school here and am always heading out to the trails. There's so many different paths you can take so it's never really the same. Plenty of up and downs with tight turns and narrows paths in places. Good number of roots on the lower ground and sand in places as well. Overall a very nice and enjoyable ride. Usually very few people on at one time as well.
