Description
Squirrel Creek is the wildest ride I yet to do. Going up is a bitch, and you will probably have to dismount and walk about thirty times. The Squirrel Creek crosses the bike trail around thirty times and this is what makes it tricky riding up. Eventually climb above the creek and the trail is just normal singletrak. Take it all the way up to the old house that was burned down.Going down is F*cking sweet, it is narrow, steep, and fast. Once you hit the creek crossings is what makes the trail unique in my opinion. Here you are flying down through all of these crossings. Just be careful not to slip on rocks. Have fun!

Review: Fellow Riders...the public access to this great trail from Beulah is in the Pueblo Mountain Park, not via the private property as noted in the directions. Thanks from a fellow rider and property owner!

Review: Though not specified in the directions above, the lower Squirrel Creek trailhead is at the end of Squirrel Creek Rd. There is no official parking so park smart and don't aggravate the landowners near the trailhead.

Similar Trail: Start at Davenport CG off Hwy 165 west of Beulah. Take Second Mace trail to Squirrel Creek Rd via Dome Rock and Squirrel Cr trails

Review: The Forest Service has a legal easement to the trailhead mentioned above, though you have to ride a short ways up a driveway at the end of the road to access the trail. Be lowkey till you hit the trail.

Review: squirrel creek is an awsome trail if ridden from the bottom up. If you climb past the campground there is a sweet loop with second mace and dome rock.

Similar Trail: rainbow trail and snowslide

Review: A lot of fun . Going up feels like a long trip but it is worth it for the trip down . The creek was great on this hot day, either ridin or walking through the creek helped beat the heat!

Review: Fascinating trail and history with all the remnants of an early 1900's auto tour route still intact. In spring you'll dismount 20+ times for multiple creek crossings. Fall should be significantly drier for this region of Colorado. Watch for poison ivy here too. I grew up in Pueblo and was never aware of this trail. I'm sure the land owners at the trailhead will start to be annoyed by increased traffic - I parked a mile or so down the road you can also access from Pueblo Mtn park. VOC has recently done trail work here (Summer 04)and I can tell you that in its undisturbed state it is a b--ch to ride and involved quite a bit of walking but getting to the present day campground at top is well worth it. Overall trip is only 8miles or so RT but feels much longer.
