Description: *This loop is only available during fall/winter when the water is low enough to reveal the old bridge over the river* Start the Sweetwater trail at the gated trailhead. Ride the complete trail, then ride up Salmon Falls Road for 1/4 mile, cross the Salmon Falls Bridge, and start riding the Salmon Falls trail. Continue 4 miles on the Salmon Falls trail (7 miles total). When you are at the top of a hill overlooking a large field, with the river on your left, you will see the old bridge visible to your left. Ride down the hill, cross the bridge, and continue straight to rejoin the Sweetwater trail. When you get to the Sweetwater trail, turn right, and ride about 1 mile back to the trail head.

Just a note...the directions here are WRONG!! If you want to go this route, before Green Valley Rd, you must go through Natoma Street to Green Valley Rd. I was stupid to read these directions and wasted my time today. Thanks to whoever posted it!

Just rode the trail for my second time this Saturday, 4/11/09, and again it never disappoints. The trail is sick! Love the first portion the best with its rocky-busted-thigh pumpin' beginning.

Similar Trail: Anything in the area I'm guessing. I plan on visiting the Rattlesnake area towards Auburn Dam next weekend so we'll see then.
