Description: It's mostly all single track through a nice quite piece of property surrounding the college. This is located just into the hills created by glaciers back in the day, so it's hillier than the other trails to the south. I believe it is a rather new trail. There are some pretty good descending sections that you get let 'er roll pretty good. But, what goes down must come up! Nothing too steep that you need to get off and push though. Lots of nice scenery and lots of animals (squirrels, rabbits, deer, and the such).

Pretty fun single track with more elevation change than some of the other trails in the mid-Michigan area. They recently added to the trail, the new section is still a little rough but will pack down as it's ridden more. All and all a good ride if you live in the area.

Started riding here in 2011. Nice trails. Nothing too technical, but nice singletrack with a few challenges, & some roots & rocks. Scenic. I usually see a bit of wildlife when I ride here.

I rode this loop just to get a feel of what the Rust Shaker was going to be like. This loop is fun. Since I am new to the sport, I wasn't expecting some of the terrain. Nice rolling hills and mostly dry singletrack. The beginning has some gradual climbs with tight turns in trees right off the bat. Then after about the 3rd mile, it really opens up, and it is some fun rolling hills with a couple of short climbs mixed in. Good workout for a beginner like me, but we were riding with a highly seasoned vet who liked the trail as well. He was probably sick of waiting for this out of shape youngster. I haven't rode many trails, and ride mostly flat Midland area, so this is a new challenge. It's also the site of my first race.

Well, to go along with my description of it, I thought it was a lot of fun. Some fellow riders have told me a lot about it. I've been used to riding about 5-6 mile trails, so this one being about 10.2 was a little more exercise, but worth it. I loved rolling down the hills as fast as I could. The dirt was great. Not many roots. A few rocks. Nothing that a beginer couldn't ride, but a lot that more experienced riders can have fun on!
