Description: Awesome singletrack loops in Central Oklahoma. Four loops total, @ 6-7 miles each, 27 miles total. Well-marked trails, good trail map available at Ranger Office at Park entrances on both sides. Lots of shade, very few other bikers, take lots of bug spray and water. Short climbs, switchbacks in a forested and/or prairie environment! You can ride most of the trails fast, but there are some rock outcrops, rooted climbs, sometimes sandy corners, and a few washouts. Aerobic difficulty will depend on how many miles you ride; About 5 for one loop only. Trails are usually well maintained, but can be overgrown in the summer. Cooper's Bike shop on Main Street in Stillwater will have most of what you might need.

TRAIL REVIEWS   review this trail

Rode the SE trail on a Friday morning July 31, 2009 and we did not see anyone else the entire ride...Very peaceful! We are basically novice riders (I am 51 years old) and found this trail fun and exciting. It had rained the night before, so some of the hills were too slippery to ride up (probably would not have made it up them anyway at my level of expertise). We did however have a little difficulty at times following the trail. The markers were old and faded, and many had fallen to the ground...the ribbons on the trees did help. Overall very enjoyable and aerobic for both of us. 2-3 cattle guards were a little annoying, but did not take away from the overall ride.* Review edited 8/3/2009

This is scenic out and back and the easiest of the Lake McMurtry trails. There are a few technical drops/climbs that are above beginner level.

This trail has is all type of terrian from fast flowing track to a few technical rock gardens. Your legs and spirit will be pumped on this ride!

McMurtry had 4 well maintained trails. (NE, SE, SW and NW). The NE trail has some great flowing single track interspersed with some very technical root and rock mini canyons. The NE trail has one scary spot where you're cruising along and come up on a dangerous, hard to see drop about 10 feet off a vehicle sized rock. Deer, geese and duck everywhere!

Great, well maintained singletrack with some short, steep down/up's. Lots of super scenery! This trail has monthly maintainence by Coopers Bikes.

Nice trails, smooth with the occasional portage. I thoroughly enjoyed these trails. Camping to close together but going primitive is the way to go here!

NE and SE trails are in pretty good shape still, ie, not very overgrown for summertime. SW trails should be good, and not sure about NW trail because it has a lot of open areas that would need trimming. They are also still fast, and still have their technical spots. NE is probably the most technical. Don't forget to pay the fee ($5), or it'll really cost you.

Similar Trail: NuDraper

Great trails. Ride there 1-3 times / week. 4 trails total, 2 trails connected per side of reservoir; road ride inbetween. Both fast and technical trails. Not too big of climbs (It's Okla).
