Description: The Lawrence Riverfront Park Trail is a ten-mile system of recreational bike paths on the top of the levees along the river. the bike paths provide easy, non-technical riding for casual and family riders. Adjacent to the east end of this system is a series of trails on the river floodplain with more challenging single-track riding through the wooded lowlands. This approximately four-mile out-and-back course (8 miles total) is mostly packed dirt with some sandy spots and can be fairly fast riding....

This was my first experience with MTB (back in 2007). It is one way only, so please heed this, or have the rich bikers yell at you. Please also watch out for walkers and joggers coming the opposite way. As others said, it is beautiful scenery. It has a few quick drops, a couple switchbacks. It changes daily. It's usually pretty dry, until you get to the most northern boat ramp. This part has been modified severely to add more challenge. Has an awesome log jump followed by a "gorge." It is sandy, not super rocky until you get to the back part where you start your return. A lot of tree roots.

Similar Trail: Perry Lake, KS; Shunga Trail (back woods) albiet super-easy.

Great trail for those starting out. Offers simple riding with the occasional excitement of a jump or fast turn.

Similar Trail: Don't know of many.

The overall trail is fairly flat and can become monotonous without the use of many sharp grades and jumps. However the few jumps are glorious and the scenery is fantastic. A ride in winter reveals a better view of the overall course and the ability to judge tactics in advance. Lovely trail in lovely surroundings with a beautiful vista!

The single track located on the Eastern Section of the levee trail is mainly flat with a few easy technical maneuvers to be had including log jumps and roots. You can get creative and use the mounds of dirt that serve as dividers as ramps to transfer from trail to trail.
