Trail Description
About this trail
A very hard uphill walk "5.6 miles" to Manitou Resivouir and then down to Barr Trail. This is not a
easy trek! 14 mile round trip, it's best to get a ride up to Cascade then ride down.

Review: Hard. a blast, technical, this trail will test your skills. I would never want to ride this trail up from Cascade. we came on to Heizer trail from Elk Park and the Barr trail. started out with the trail headed straight down the mountain along the fall line. Very rutted! Experienced a lot of deep gravel as well as a few downed trees. The trail isn't very well used and could use some maintenance in areas especially with saplings growing up into the trail that like to grab your handlebars. The upper 3rd of the trail is a lot of fun, fast, flowy and very scenic. Once you reach a steep rocky outcropping you can see Cascade 1,000ft below. That is when the trail gets a bit more difficult and crazy fun with lots of exposure. Switchback after steep, corkscrewing switchback pretty much the whole rest of the way down. mind your brakes dont overheat on the last part, and set your seat post down low. Most of the riders I was with said they would never ride that trail again but i found it to be a lot of fun in a challenging, white knuckle, no room for error kind of way..

Review: Very steep and loose trail and first 1.7 miles. Not many hikers or bikers because it's so steep. Lots of loose gravel and tight switchbacks. Wouldn't recommend it because most of it is hike a bike. Barr trail isn't this rough.

Review: This is indeed a difficult climb that requires a good amount of hike-a-bike. The scenery helps compensate and, if you go at the right time of year, you're likely to find wild raspberries.
