| Pros | Great clip in/out mech. Light. Rebuildable. Semi-adjustable. 2 year warranty. Much looser floating feel when clipped in. | | Cons | Can be fragile with rock strikes. Wish the superlight Ti4 version could handle people over 180lbs. Can be expensive. | | Verdict | A fantastic XC pedal whose only flaw is the durability of "wings" on rock strikes and the inability to totally adjust the release tension. Still, much easier to get in and out of than my Shimano 520s. Clears mud like a champ. Note: don't cheap out and buy the MXR or C versions of this pedal. The material that the wings are made out of seems to have a much higher failure rate that the SLs and higher models. Luckily, Crank Brothers has a 2 year warranty on these pedals and they are VERY good about backing it up. | | Recommended for: Experienced XC riders |
| Pros | light, loose float, but secure | | Cons | Have blown bearing out of four of the early sets.
They gave a new set everytime, though | | Verdict | All good! have them on all five bikes | | Recommended for: Anyone |
| Cons | None so far. | | Verdict | I think they are easy to get in and out. I have been riding these since 2003 and had no problems, so good durability. Great pricepoint. |
| Pros | I have been riding the SL's since 2003 and I have no complaints. The weight is low, mud shedding is unbeatable, entry/exit becomes second-nature quickly and I don't worry about accidently unclipping. I have I have only had to repack the bearings with a little grease once and it took less then 10 minutes to do so. | | Cons | I've come unclipped after smacking a rock hard once or twice. | | Verdict | I recommend this pedal system to anyone. New riders and experienced alike will aprreciate the 4-sided entry and the simplistic but sturdy (and functional) design. | | Recommended for: Anyone |

| Pros | I have been using this pedal on both my mountain bike and road bike since 2001. I have logged over 6,000 miles on these pedals and have not had one single problem. I can clip in and out easily, yet I have never unclipped accidentally. Once in, I stay in until I decide to unclip.
The Eggbeaters shed mud cleanly and never clog. The four sided entry ensures I can clip in with ease. | | Cons | I have no dislikes with this pedal system | | Verdict | I have ridden many different Shimano clipless pedal systems as well as this one. This one is the bomb...I recommend it for everyone, newbies and pros alike | | Recommended for: Anyone |

| Pros | This pedal clips in easy, clips out easy, doesn't clog with mud, doesn't weigh much, looks good, allows you to clip in forwards or backwards, doesn't require any adjustment (there's nothing to adjust), allows for 15 or 20 degree release angles (based on L/R cleats), doesn't cost too much, and looks cool too (from a minimalistic point of view) | | Cons | every once in a while I will clip out while bunny hopping (ouch). | | Verdict | I had ridden the big S style of pedal for a number of years with limited success, so I decided to start looking for a new style. It came down to either the Time ATAC or the Eggbeater. The Eggbeaters won out due to looks. I have never regretted switching to the Eggbeaters, and since then I have also purchased a pair of the Smarty version and looking at the Candies also. | | Recommended for: Experienced XC riders |
