Riding the Spine: Halfway to the tip of South America

posted October 23, 2007 by trek7k

rtspine.gifThe crew that’s riding their mountain bikes from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Tierra del Fuego at the tip of South America is still on the trail and they recently reached the halfway mark, more than 16,000 km pedaled. The group has just entered Central America as they crossed from Mexico into Guatemala.

You may remember we posted about Riding the Spine several months back and at the time I seriously doubted they would make it through Mexico, let alone to Tierra del Fuego. But apparently they are still on course and perhaps the most exciting (and difficult) portions are coming up as they make their way across Central and South America. Bookmark their blog to keep up on the latest news, this will certainly be an historically epic ride!
