Video: “Downhill Mountain Biker Throws Himself Off A Cliff”

This may be the first, possibly the second, video that I’ve seen of a mountain bike base jump. While base jumping is a sport in its own right and has paired well with downhill skiing, mountain bike base jumping doesn’t seem to have caught on. And for obvious reasons: getting launched off a 400 foot cliff (or more) doesn’t tend to end very well for the bike!

To date (November 2013), I have ridden hundreds of different trails in 18 different states, and am adding more singletrack to my trail resume every year! I enjoy all types of mountain biking, from ultra endurance cross country all the way up to chair lift-accessed downhill runs.

  1. I had a heart attack watching that! Then my friend pointed out that they had swapped the Glory for a GT frame in the video for the jump. Okay, *breaths* better…but still, not cool. The poor bike.
