Mountain Biking Westgate Park

The Larry and Rona Dykes trail is a 3.5-4 mile multi-use walking/jogging/biking trail which encircles the perimeter of the park. The two-way trail varies from single path in the open fields to doubletrack through the woods. There are a few options from the main trail which hook back up to the main. Dothan has pretty slim-pickins as far as bike trails, this trail would be good for just straight-out big ring laps for building stamina or for new riders just getting the feel for riding on dirt. While you can really cruise on this trail since it's hard-packed and flat, beware of the walkers and joggers out there. From Ross Clark Circle (aka "The Circle"), Westgate Park is at the NW - 10 o'clock position from center of the city. Take Hwy 84 West, go one block turn RIGHT on to Westgate Pkwy. Be looking left for the Westgate Park entrance signs. You can park in front of the rec center and hook up wiht the trail anywhere on the perimeter of the park.
