Review: Lots of climbing! I did a race here and not real sure how they had us routed, but I felt like I was going uphill the whole time! There were some fast downhills, but I was so tired from climbing that I didn't get to enjoy them as much as I wanted to. Lots of great scenery and a great location near Helen.

Review: If you re looking for a fast flowy trail, go somewhere else. Fire roads are not mountain bike trails nor are they flowy. This was exercise only. I guess i have finally learned that state parks do not have good trails ( unless created/maintained by sorba or some other cycle club).

Review: I finally got to ride this trail. It was the finals for the Georgia State Championship Series. We raced it in the counter-clockwise direction complete with a calf-high creek crossing. Really fun course with lots of flowy sections. Good challenging climbs, high speed bermed downhills with a good amount of technical stuff. Beginners can ride it but it would take them 2-3 hours to complete. Race times were in the 45-60 minutes per lap including a sprint across the field to the parking lot where the start/finish line was.

Review: Its hard for me to i agine this as an intermediate to beginner trail. True, there arent too many technical challenges..but there are some pretty strong climbs that took the wind out of my sails. I was very dissappointed that there wasnt an actual creek crossing as some reviews suggested- they were bridges! All in all, had a great time, and I'd come back, but I prefer stonewall falls.

Review: I like riding this trail, but don't like the new $2 bike permit. I don't think this trail would be a good choice for a beginer. It has some good climbs in it and the last mile or two is probably the most fun!

Review: Could be good. Has a long up and downs design that could be so much better. roots and leaves everywhere making it bumpy and slick. Would love to see it after a race. On top of that it's 5 to park and $2 for a "bike permit" many better trails all around. Overrated.

Review: My first mountain trail, since I live in Florida. Great single track, fast corners and great climbs. Definitely not a beginner track. Incredible views and marked well.

Review: I rode this trail back in June and had a great time. I am fairly new to mountain biking and not in that great of shape, I had to walk a couple of the long steep sections. Its $5.00 to park and you can pick up a free color map at the campground office for Unicoi right around the corner from the bike parking lot.

Review: Rode last week for first time and for some reason I really, really liked this trail. It just has a little of everything from Fast / Technical / Good length and Scenery. Just a good technical trail loop to be nice and satisfied with. I cant wait to come back later to do it in a faster time...

Review: I am a beginner and had to walk a few sections but I wouldn't let that keep anyone away from trying it. The scenery is great, you ride by nice water if you want to chill as the water is cold!!! Very well laid out, was never worried about being lost and they had mileage markers every mile. The downhill runs make the uphills worth it even if you have to walk up part of it. Look forward to riding it again.

Review: Road the trail today after work. I was a little intimidated at first, but really began to enjoy it. It really helped me a couple of technical areas since I'm still new to riding. I highly suggest it.

Review: Wide, fast, double track with a couple of mildly technical sections. I can see why this place hosts races, the elevation changes will work you. Seems to drain pretty well, rode it one day after a rain and no mud.

Review: decent trail system, however, the singletrack isn't really single... it is wide trail. nice downhill at the end, and some good views along the way. would be a decent trail for a first time rider

Review: Nice trail system that can be accessed from the town of Helen. The initial climb from town is steep and tough but once you're up the climbs are fairly moderate. Wide singletrack is a little eroded in places but that makes it more challenging. Pretty simple network, well signed.

Review: This trail has several very long, difficult climbs. It has some awesome fast and technical down hills, and is not crowded at all. I just finished this trail in mid-October, and I had a blast doing it. There is some difficult sections, but a beginner could walk the ones not comfortable with.

Review: Great trail that I don't hear too many people talk about. It isn't very technical as most of the reviews said but the climbs will definitely wake you up. I started at what I think is the only parking lot just past the Unicoi Lodge then take a road on the right, down to a gravel parking lot, then rode through the big field, up a short climb then took a right for some more climbing. Lots of fun. Nice downhill run at mile 5 or so.

Review: This is not a really technical trail, so a strong beginner would have few problems. Easier, shorter climbs, and fun downhills but challenging enough for you to ride fast and get technical. I rode it in the rain this weekend, and it was a muddy mess, but it's a really fun ride! Can't get lost...Start in the Helen municipal lot, and ride that way!

Review: I enjoy this trail. It is moderate in difficulty and offers some good climbs and fast downhill. I enjoy biking just over 3/4 of it, going into Helen (since the trail connects to the streets) for a tour of the town, and return and complete the trail. This is rather nice.

Review: This is a great epic ride, you can ride ALL day if you wanted to. The map you get is pretty much useless, and there aren't any good landmarks, so bring enough gear in case you get lost. There are some killer climbs, but there are awesome downhills. You have to pay to park and ride, but it is worth it. There is some really good camping here also.

Review: sweet downhills, bring your lungs though some very treacherous uphill climbs that will test your stamina. A little confusing once you get in there so bring a gps or compass.

Review: The trail is in disrepair- trees, bad ruts, bridges out. If your looking for a good workout this is it, big climbs with a few areas you get to build some flow in.

Review: As of 20050406 the southern loop of the trail is closed due to storm damage. The bridge at Smith Creek is closed as well. The north loop is about three miles. There is a lot of water runoff damage and washout areas. Call first!

Review: Grueling climbs!! And if you're going from Unicoi toward Helen, watch out for the hairpin turn near the end. Mmmm... dirt tastes good.

Review: You're not kidding about the up hil grinds. My wife hated them, but the killer down hill at about mile 5 put a smile back on her face. The circuit is well marked and maintained so there is little chance of getting lost. We saw only three other riders. If you are in the area, drive up to Clayton and do Stone Wall Loop. The two trails are similar. Cost is $2 per bike and well worth it.

Similar Trail: Slightly more difficult due to the up hills and more technical decents.

Review: There's nothing quite like biking this trail for ,5 miles, dropping off into Helen, Georgia for a a couple of trips through the town, and return to the trail for a 3 miles finish. We do this about 3-4 times each year.
