Mountain Biking Tower Loop

*****   Add a review
#21 of 115 mountain bike trails in South Carolina
#1,738 in the world

3.5 mile Tower Loop is one of the more advanced trails in the FATS system but advanced is a bit of a misnomer. Very little about this trail is actually hard. In fact, it's a very enjoyable ride with only a little elevation gain and a couple of roots to challenge you.

Getting there
From I-20 near Augusta, GA take SC Exit 1 (SC 230). Head north on SC 230 for about 5 miles. Turn left on Woodlawn Rd. Go approx. 4 miles, trailhead parking area for the southern trails are on the left. If you specifically want to ride Tower Loop, keep heading past this parking lot and make a left on Deepstep Rd. About 2-3 miles down Deepstep Rd, FS 661 (a gravel rd)will enter from the left. Turn up FS 661 and drive in until you reach the parking lot. The access to Tower Loop is halfway through the Big Rock Loop which runs through the parking lot.
