Review: On December 29, I was on this trail course, which I do not know what's trail. It is completely flat without any obstacles. It's so easy that I met a gentleman walking his 6 year old child.

I really do not know on what basis the positive comments made. I recommend that the trail will be removed from this page.

Review: This and Tom Triplett are my two favorite trails in Savannah. Maps of both are at http://pageben.com/bike/ Lots of bridges, marsh views, and a few fun ditches make this a weekend favorite.

Review: We added a little technicle obstacle to the trail. There was a very large tree fallen across the trail that we couldnt move so we added smaller trees up against it making a hill of trees that were really fun to ride up and over, enjoy :)

Review: Lots of fun lots of scenery, fun technical trails with beginner to advanced obstacles. I love riding close to the cliffs with a 20 foot drop off

Review: Not a bad trail if you're just looking to cruise a little and get back on the bike. Probably good if you're looking to get off the paved path and into the woods. A few tight spots here and there, but overall, not too techical. A couple of places there were 6-8" logs down to give you a little challenge, but that's about it. I don't know about the other posts, but there a couple of bidges out there now to get across a couple of creeks. Trails could be a little better marked, but not bad for the most part. The trail was dry and free of leaves - which is the opposite of Tom Triplett, which I rode the next day. If you take the first path to the right after you start in, the trail rides right along the marsh with some great views. Because it was late in the day I didn't get a chance to ride the whole way through but I plan on heading back soon.

Review: Hi all - i think we're confusing a few different trails at Skidaway Island. I've just marked the trail head for what I think this description is trying to locate. It's some refuge land around a couple of marsh areas, clear and wide at first around a couple of roots, but quickly gets overgrown and if we were ducking around stuff on-foot, I can see it becoming impossible without some clearing on a bike. There are no bridges here. Perhaps Skidaway Island State Park or the SKIO trail is what others have commented on? Lovely & free walk though with nice views of the marsh and water!

Review: Beautiful area with scenic views. Not too bad for a mellow ride, but not at all challenging.

Review: Not technical, not a workout, not really sure it is a bike trail. When I asked the Park Ranger where the trail was she laughed. If your into mellow rides in the woods this is 5 star.

Review: Well its at least a trail in the woods, thats about all I can say for it. Tom Triplet is a lot better (Still weak compared to the trails I'm used to back west). There are a few good jumps and a few mud puddles which keep things interesting but hardly challenging. Not sure why anyone would want to start their mountain biking career in Savannah GA but if your a greenhorn then by all means this is a nice place to start out.

Similar Trail: Tom Triplet, I'm heading up to Augusta soon I'll try to find some better trails.

Review: i usually walk this trail. i couldn't imagine riding it on a bike because there are so many spider webs! also, watch for alligators when the trail narrows between the marsh in the beginning. but a lovely trail overall, especially in the summer when everything is blooming and green!

Review: A little technical stuff with some tight turns and a few rooty areas around bridge cossings kept it interesting. But it's kind of short and some trails just kind of dead end. Riding on 11/24/2006, it was in fine condition without bugs and great scenery. If you want an easy ride or are a beginner and wanting a place to develop your skills, this is good if you don't have to drive too far. BTW, be sure to use the directions in one of the other reviews to find this trail!

Review: Skidaway is a nice ride, not too technical or aerobically challenging. The trail is mainly winding singletrack with nice tropical scenery. Splits in the trail can sometimes be confusing; some paths that look well-traveled at the split are overgrown after a few hundred feet. My advice is to stick to the most traveled-path; failing that, take the path closest to the river. For more precise directions use the following address on Google Maps: 99 Osca Rd, Savannah, GA 31411

Review: Also the above directions are terrible. Here are better ones. I95 to Highway 204E to 204Spur(Montgomery Cross) to skidway island. Prior to the main gate of the Landings (major golf village/ retirement area) turn LEFT towards the marine research area. Again all the way to the fork in the road stay straight (not towards the marine research area) until it seemingly deadends. Park in the shade if you can cable is on the left as you pull in. Please add this to the correct directions.

Review: Trail is over grown and you will share the trail with several spiders if you are the first one on it in the morning. It would be heplful if one had the time to take a set of handheld pruning shears with them. This trail could be the epitome of a river bottom trail. It need a through the woods return loop that could be knocked in with a work party in a matter of a weekend. In this repect it is a rake and ride with the ever present fallen tree. With a combined effort of several riders with poles or pry bars several interesting lines could be put in to increase the overall rating of this trail. I find it fun and it could a great training ride or slow day ride for recovery. If you are expecting high speeds there are some areas that have a good space to go faster. Bottom Line want a better trail improve this one.

Review: I finally rode the trail today. I moved here from MN about a month ago. I have also lived in UT and AZ. Compared to trails in those states or northern GA this trail is boring. But...we're not up north or out west and this is coastal GA. I had fun, was even challenged on occasion (especially when lost!). I've never ridden in this type of environment and found it beautiful in its own way. I also liked the bridge with the tooth sign. I had a hard time making the transition down those ruts to the bridge. Maybe this trail isn't a destination trail but sure beats sitting at home crying because you're not out west.

Review: I just wanted to thank you guys for this trail. Went out on it today with my wife and enjoyed it alot. Haven't been able to get out on a trail since Idaho. This trail may not have the hills, jumps and other technical aspects, but the single trail, winding, narrow, roots and three catwalk bridges keep it interesting and fun. Great senery, Saw the sign about the lost tooth, Funny! Is there anything down the trails when you get to the 2 mile mark at the grass clearing??? Would love to find some other great trails. Thanks again.

Review: some of those ruts and jumps are earthworks built by the confederates during the civil war. you should stay off of them or everyone may be asked off of all of the trail in perpetuity. oddly high overall rating versus difficulty is because it really takes you along some pretty places along the edge of the marsh.

Similar Trail: only other ones i know of are completely illegal so not much point recommending. (state park as you enter skidaway island has a really nice short trail, but i get the impression you are not supposed to be there on a bike. it also has hills that are earthw

Review: I don't really know what you guys were doped up on when you rode this trail. Flat is an understatement!!! There is nothing technical whatsoever about this trail. If you thought this trail was good, you have never ridden in middle and north Ga. There are a couple of logs across the path which are nothing to bunny over. The trail is in terrible shape, and rides slow as hell because of all the pinestraw covering it. The only reason i ride this is to give me something to do when I'm home on the weekends. Do not come to Savannah to ride this trail, go to Milledgeville, Ellijay, Augusta, or somewhere north of here.

Similar Trail: Anything in Savannah will be this way, we do not have any technical terrain.

Review: Tyler,

If you think the trail is slow because of the pine straw , you must not be a very good rider.

maybe you should get some training wheels so you don't fall !

Review: Well let us all bow down to the Professional rider(Tyler) from Savannah! You must be the type that the article(Jerks on the trail) is written about. No this is not a professional trail. Nor is it very technical. But look around you it is in the south east. No mountains around here! If the pine needles were to thick to go fast you apparently were not on the trail. I ride this trail everyday, yes I said everyday. I work on the Island and it is a nice lunch time ride. So everyone remember to bow down to the all mighty Tyler next time you see him on the trail!
