Description: This trail has a lot of elevation change throughout. There are 3 major stream crossings and after each, the trail goes up a gut busting hill. There are lots of switchbacks on this heavily wooded trail. Pretty bumpy - roots and rocks all around. This trail is very similar to Hobby Park in Winston-Salem (although the hills are not as extreme). A semi-technical ride with a lot of singletrack.

Very fun trail. Lots of technical sections starting after the first few miles. Rock gardens are challenging for riders who are not at least an intermediate. Trail is very narrow in places, with loose rocks, but nothing too crazy. Be ready for a good cardio workout.

This trail is fun. Not too forgiving on the bean bag either. A lot of rocks and roots, but you can get going really fast on some downhill sections

Great technical trail, has a couple of rock gardens, pads are suggested! About an hour away from Fort Bragg/Pope Air Force Base. Well worth the drive. Sign in at trail head and grab the map at the ranger station. If you pop a flat on the rocks, you will need it!

Road this trail on Mar 27th in a race. This trail has many technical rocky sections. Very fun trail for riding but make for a very tough race.

This is what passes for hills around here. The black diamond section is very rough and rocky.

San-Lee continues to be one of my favorite places to mountain bike. Nice scenery lots of short climbs to give a good workout. In the last few years there have been some technical singletrack sections added and some of the more flowy singletrack is now double track ATV trails cut by the park rangers. Recent trail additions have brought "bail-outs" for those that don't want to ride the whole loop. Just a note - the hiking trails are completely independent of the MTB trails.

San-Lee Park has some new sections that are very challenging. They are very rocky and require a lot of concentration. I personally had some of my worse falls in the process of figuring out this new section. I banged my knee real good that put me off the bike for a week. With time and practice I can now run this section without hurting myself. The lines are coming more defined with trail use and I also am more familiar with the trail. The local top dogs can run this trail without all the extra practice that normal bikers need. The first hard section is called The Gauntlet and the second hard section is called The Falls. The Falls is longer and harder than The Gauntlet. The rest of the trail is also a challenge. In places it is rooty and hilly. There are more up and downs as opposed to flat riding. There was a hail storm recently that knocked some trees down, but they have been cleared out of the way. If you like Mountain biking San-Lee Park is worth coming to visit. There is a campground at San-Lee Park so bring your camping gear and spend the weekend. Harris Lake Park and Governors Creek are not too far away either.

San-Lee has lots of new singletrack throughout the park. It has a new stream crossings . There is also a new technical trail with tons of rocks. It's near Free-Fall.

This trail is a ton of fun, great single track with a few twists. The trail has lots to offer; roots, rocks, and even more roots. Not suited for beginers, it is great place to push your self.

this was a great cardio trail with lots of roots and rocks. be sure to check out the "gauntlet", which is a good, technical rock garden.

As others have mentioned this trail is full of short downhill runs into short steep climbs, very few flat areas on the whole trail. This trail is rarely crowded, most people ride the loop clock-wise so even if there are other trail users you never see them. This is one of the few places to ride with a lot of white quartz, makes for a picturesque ride. This trail is great, you can slow down, use the granny gear on the climbs and keep the heart rate down so you can enjoy the scenery. If you are in the mood for a workout you can hold on and keep the HR just under AT the whole way. I would rate this trail appropriate for beginners if they have patience and slow down a bit on the decents. In the fall the trail tends to be layer upon layer of wet/slick leaves and can be quite challenging. The park itself is very nice and I can sometimes bring the wife and kids to play/have a picnic while I ride. Fishing in the lake for bluegill with the kids is good too. Boat rental in the summer for non-riding folks as well.

*** IMPORTANT MESSAGE *** RODE THE TRAIL ON SUNDAY 18 JUN. AT THAT TIME THE SECOND TO LAST SMALL BRIDGE WAS OUT. THIS BRIDGE COMES AFTER A LONG RUN OUT AND FAST SECTION OF THE TRAIL. IT IS NOW A 4-5 FOOT DROP.

Rode after a day of heavy rain. Mud throughout and loose sand the last mile made it tough going on some of the climbs for a novice. That said, there were no really technical parts. This trail is more of a cardio and leg burner than Governor's Creek.

Very nice track here! During the spring when everything is green, it's gorgeous. Aside from the visuals, it's a very fun course to ride. Going the designated direction is a difficult uphill most of the way; I imagine reversing directions would make it easier, although I haven't tried. Plenty of large rocks and roots to dodge. Good number of stream crossings as well. Didn't see another soul when I was there.

if you are ever in fayetteville bring your bike to ride this trail. it is a great loop that is well maintained and a real tuff ride for the area.

Challenging but fun!!! Good aerobic workout. Substantial climbs, some quite rocky. Good payback on the downhills. Fun creek crossings, especially on a hot day:) Plenty of roots - knotty pine. Finished with a smile on my face and a few briar marks:) Nice park with indoor plumbing.

Nice trail with good ups and downs. Did it on my rigid ss since the sugar is cracked. Probably the harder of the three Sanford trails I have ridden.

Lots of loose gravel and roots- made for a jackhammer ride that I loved. Lots of uphills, short sweet blasts. Some good downhills with lots of speed, especially loved the creek crossings.

The best trail vicinity of Fayetteville. You have to go north of Raleigh to get a better trail. Awesome ride that is well established. It has great hills. Great aerobic workout when you push the hills.

Lots of loose rock and roots on trail. Pretty challenging for a beginner like myself. Had quite a time on it the first time i rode it because i had just bought my bike and was still not quite good at clipping out of my pedals. Needless to say i had quite a few bruises by the end of the day. Good ride overall though.
