Review: Great trail system in the Boone area. If you only have an hour to ride you could enjoy a quick run on any of the trails. For the beginner or even the more advanced rider.

Review: Today I was in the park and is the best I have visited. Despite the weather (lots of snow and wind) the ride was fun. Enough ascents and descents, passes small rivers, rocks, jumps and several wooden platforms, which today were quite difficult to overcome by the ice.

Review: Late in writing this review, but this place is INSANE. Absolutely fantastic. Not much beginner territory here, but a great place to work on intermediate skills. Rocky Branch to Middle Earth to Boat Rock, with increasing difficulty as adding new loops. Awesome example of a sustainable, accessible, beautifully well-maintained mountain biking Mecca!!! PS-as name implies, it is ROCKY!

Review: Rocks, Rocks, and more Rocks. Get used to it and enjoy it as these provide the setting, raw character, and challenge of RKP. Three dedicated skills areas and a half-mile PBJ (Pumps, Berms, Jumps) trail set a stage for everyone to work on their technical riding. Over 7 miles of trails cross the park, and along the way there are bridges and extensive armored sections with an abundance of optional lines. The 1.6 mile Rocky Branch Trail begins at 3250 ft. and contains the lowest of grades, but because of the trail's variable surface is still rated moderate (no beginner trails at RKP). The most-difficult (Ol' Hoss Trail) tops out at 4000 ft. of and contains steep climbing switchbacks, unavoidable drops, and other obstacles. Climbing efforts are rewarded in a big way at Rocky Knob as the downhills are shallow enough to make for LONG descents. This is a great example of a sustainably built, progressive MTB park. Magic.

Similar Trail: Any with ROCKS. Kerr Scott Trails in Wilkesboro are a good combination for trip-planning.

Review: This is a sweet little bike park. Great flow, rock gardens that make sense, several different skill parks for all skill levels. Trails range from moderately easy (buff, with entry level rock gardens and occasional switchbacks) to advanced (sculpted jump trail with large berms, tabletops, optional drops and rock features). Definitely something for everyone at this place. In order to get to the awesome jump line you do have to ride uphill about 2 miles. Not bad, but probably not much fun on a DH bike-- not that you need it. The trail flows so well you could ride it on a rigid bike. I had a blast.

Review: Well designed set of trails and challenges. Good balance of climbing and flowy descents. Go here instead if you are near Boone and thinking about Emerald. Wish my town had something like this.

Review: Finally got to check RK out july 4th. We were extremely impressed! Its taken Boone a while to actually put together a local trail system but they came out guns blazing on their first major system. From the infrastucture to the trails to the amenities, this system is first class! Excellent signage, multiple skills sections, artfully built wooded bridges, a plethora of rock gardens, a jump trail with plenty of progressive line options,a pump track at the base...with more to come. The bar just got raised in NC. IMHO, between Boone and Wilkesboro, the area, while obviously not as scenic, has surpassed the Asheville/Brevard area in quality of the trails and is catching up in quantity.

Review: The Lower Knob trail, the second of those being constructed is now complete and what a rush. At the top of a brutal ascent there is a one mile technically challenging downhill back to connect with the Rocky Knob loop. First timers need to be deliberate the first loop as there are some tight turns and a few surprises. Mainly how much is packed into this relatively short loop. More construction is evident.

Review: A very cool trail, with lots of rock/gravel added (so it won't get muddy). Some nice climbs, tight turns, fast sections, etc. But to get a real workout you need to do it a few times, because its short (until new sections open). Also, if going there the first time its easy to miss (no sign at road). I believe it was just past the Nissan dealership (going East on 421 out of Boone).

Review: An EXTREMELY rocky but extremely fun trail system. No true beginner trails. Lots of climbing, but lots of downhill too. Plenty of rhodo thickets, bridges, berms, serious rock gardens, alternate lines and technical challenges. The trail mileage is now around 7.5 miles. Three top notch skills areas: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced - featuring long log rides, rock gardens, skinnys, ramps and jumps. The advanced skills area has some pretty intimidating stuff. The Boat Rock Loop and Ol Hoss (the hardest section) take you high up on the mountain through a technical climb and sets you up for a sweet rocky 2.5 mile descent back to the trailhead. Ol Hoss in particular features some extremely steep sections with very tight switchbacks, and unavoidable drops. There's also a great new pump/berm/jump downhill trail that shouldn't be missed. Some serious jumps if you have the cojones to hit them. Definitely worthy of a destination trail if you're in the area.* Review edited 9/29/2012
