Description: Ride starts at 3500 feet and heads north along the Pioneer Trail which rolls along sometimes close to hwy 20. Rolling is the word, rarely will the rider find themselves, not either descending or climbing. This part of Pioneer Trail is suitable for beginners with enough challenge for the advanced rider. At 3 about MILES and 4000 feet, cross Conservation Road, where the trail will Wye, head down Pfieffer Trail following Conservation Road heading North. At about 2 MILES Pfieffer Trail will turn LEFT along Madrone Springs Road gravel road, dumping out at the junction of Cooper Road and Madrone Springs. Madrone Springs heads east, this ride follows Cooper West dropping into the valley, and sometimes steeply grades can exceed 40%. Hardtop starts at about 6.5 MILES rolling through a rustic neighborhood. North Bloomfield Road is easy to find at 2963 feet where Cooper dead ends into it at about 8.5 miles. Turn around and climb home, Woo Hoo you’re an animal if you don’t walk at least once. Back at the store refuel kicking it the shade, wondering why you so tired. What sounds like a simple 2000 feet of climbing is actually over 6000 feet of gain.
