Description: Take FR 379 to the intersection of FR 701 (1.7 miles), which is the beginning of the Jones DH. Stay on 379 as it winds North, then West, then South, then west again. At about 4.2 miles, you will come to an open meadow on your left. Stay on the trail until you get to the intersection of 379/379a (4.7 miles). You are at the west side of Mt Baldy. 379a cuts a hairpin to the south. Take this. If you continue on 379, you go to Elk Meadow. 379 wraps around the Mountain and will end at the gates to Stratton Resovoir. You could dismount and continue at the "authorized vehicles only". I stopped here and just enjoyed the views at 11,850 ft. The trail is doubletrack/atv capable. Some sandy parts in spaces. Not a super strenuous climb, but a good workout.

It's nice going up, and awesome coming down. Nothing technical, but it can get pretty fast.

I did this ride this past summer, very scenic. I parked off Gold camp rd where it intersects with 379 and biked up from there. You'll likely encounter jeeps/trucks on the way. But its totally worth it for the views. I rode up past the gates and walked around the lake up there, kinda creepy by yourself because its so quiet. It was scary though, I was on the west side of the lake, next thing I know, I hear thunder litterally right overhead and it started to rain, and being that close to the clouds with lightning overhead was scary, so I went running back down, lol.
