Description
Mostly intermediate trail, with a few red sections towards the middle of the trail. The trail has great canopy throughout and all hardpack, even in the middle of Florida's brutal summer. The trail contains some pretty good short technical, challenging climbs followed by abrupt, shifty descents. You'll find a few little bridges over water and some really sweet ridge line sections with a couple areas leaving no margin for error. Lots of roots towards the end of the trail, almost too much, a bit redundant after a while. The trail is, for the most part, well marked, but a few areas are bit confusing and you may need to stop and think for a second.

Review: The Mala Compra Trail is a well rounded trail in the middle of the coastal hammock along A!A. There are green, blue and double black diamond trails. The green trail goes around the perimeter of the area and is flat. If you can steer around the roots then the blue trail can be a fast xc ride. The technical sections along the blue trail are fun but just slow me down. Cloud 9 is a workout with steep climbs, wood bridges, and technical drop offs.

Review: this is my second year riding the Mala trails and im definitely looking forward to the next ride. these trails are really for any skill level there are a couple more technical section but they can easily be avoided. this is the type of trail than any skill level can have fun on its mostly flat but very flowey and you can always find something new to challenge your self on
Review: Took a trip to Palm Coast to ride Mala Compra and another local trail. Mala Compra really made the trip worth while. Great single track and a great diamond and double diamond sections. The guys who build and maintain this trail are awesome. Will deff ride again.
Review: What a beautifully manicured and clearly marked trail... well done, trail crew! They ease you into it with some fun, fast and flowy and start tossing some technical features at you building up to the crescendo of this trail. The crescendo comes with some undulating root sections through some tree skinnies around the ponds and up to a hairy rock garden descent that burrowed its way into my head and wouldn't get out... even the 2 chicken runs still give you a little somethin'. On the way out you get more fast, flowy and technical that makes you wanna keep coming back for more... right after you refuel on some BBQ across the street.

Review: Amazing trail! Well-marked, but be warned: the blue trail has a black diamond branch off that doesn't rejoin the former for quite a few pedal strokes. Technical challenges are well-marked, and the singe/double black diamond sections about 1/2 way through are legit! Lots of man-made stuff here, which compliment the natural lay-out of the area really well. Will definitely be back. the meat of this trail is SWEET! Thanks to local SORBA and trail maintenance for an awesome system! Note: There is also a separate pedestrian greenway here, about 1.5mile one way. Parking is across street at Bing's Landing. Trail is easy to find!

Review: I have ridden this trail about 20 times now as I live 15 miles away. It is a great place to learn how to ride as it allows you to stay in the "Blue Square" section for your entire ride and avoid any real obstacles. There are some sections that are narrow and a few others requiring you duck your head but otherwise anyone could ride the main trail. If you are feeling more adventurous the "Cloud 9" section is great fun. It has some fun drops and some technical climbs. There is a rock garden if you dare but be sure to check the water level at the bottom before you launch unless you want a swim. When you get comfortable with this section you can really fly through and it loops back around and around if you like. When your ready to call it a day simply head back onto the main trail and crank out a few miles back to the trail head. We typically eat across the street at Captains BBQ. This is the best BBQ around. Enjoy!
Review: Fun little trail here, with some decently hard stuff on the back end. There were a couple of big drops I skipped on my xc bike, but the up down climbs were fun. They warn you ahead of time of difficult obstacles, so you can opt out if you aren't up for it. It was hard to get a good flow in the back area with the tight turns and some tehnical climbs, but that could also be because I wasn't familiar with the trail. Overall it was pretty fun.

Review: Rode this trail while out in the area. It had a few fun little spots that were a little tech and fun to hit. If you like a lot of switch backs you love this trail since it's full of them! Wouldn't travel to ride this trail, but being that I was in the area and had my MTB with me I figured I give it a GO!!

Review: Cool single track the beginning is mild and the roots get annoying but then the fun begins. I rode it 3 times while on vacation and found it hard to navigate in the back section. Sinage was good throughout but it gets real tight in the nack and all 3 times i never rode the entire trail. Man made obstacles were cool and challenging. Good trail over all hopefully they will work on the signage in the back area
Review: Great, challenging ride for beginners (Blue Trail) or intermediate (Cloud). Ends with a few long stretches, roots scattered throughout but fun. Watch for the raccoon family near the end if you ride in the evening!
Review: My in-laws live just a few miles from this trail. I don't usually bring my bike down from Ga., I did this trip and glad I did. Never noticed it before, but now I'm going to make sure I bring my bike w/me everytime I come down. Great ride, a little bit of everything. The last patch of palm roots I could have done without.
Review: Very smooth well maintained trail. Trail has specific sections for all types of riders, even a very nice double black diamond drop towards the middle of the park. ME and a buddy rode this trail 3 times in 2 days because of its distance, even used the intermediate blue sections to do our first night ride. Very exciting and the moderately cheap lights we had on our handle bars and helmet along with the great maintenance the crew does on the trail ensured our ride was super safe.

Review: This is a really fun trail! I'm so glad to have found it! While i would argue that many of the "blacks" are actually "blues", others are quite challenging... So youre never really sure what youre getting. Very similar topography to alafia river trail. Can't wait to come back! I live walking distance to Hanna park, and I'd rather make the 1 hour drive anytime!
Review: My favorite track I've been to so far. Better than Graham Swamp because you can actually RIDE the entire thing without having to walk you bike through large patches of deep sand. Tricky parts are fun and it has a great mix of fast areas and technical areas. I drive over 130 miles round trip just to ride this track. I love it.
Review: Either really easy or really tricky. Builders have done a lot of hard work on the diamond sections. Some sections are marked with 2 black diamonds and aren't worthy of such. Some other 1 diamond and blues are trickier, so you never know what to expect. Rode this back to back with Graham Swamp today. Graham was better. Blue trails similar to Spruce Creek with flat pine woods, lots of tight turns and palmetto roots. Well groomed and marked. First 20 minutes is cake, then look out!
Review: This is a well maintained trail. Good for beginners with some intermediate and some advanced. You can go fast for about the first half then you get to the good stuff with good roots and rock obstacles, climbs and switchbacks for some technical challenges.
Review: Tough track for a beginner. I struggled with it but had an amazing time anyway. Terrain was surprising for a North Florida trail. Well worth the drive from Jacksonville.

Review: What great fun! Rolling sections of hills and technical on Cloud 9. Cool ridge riding. Strange to have these kind of features on beachside but I am told it was old circus location where pits were dug and earth moved for animal pens. The bulk of this trail winds through palm groves and roots. It is a bright trail that lets the sun in, with very pleasant coastal Florida vegetation. Bonus...try the ice cream stand next to the north entrance. Great sandwiches too.

Review: Great technical trail. Alot of roots, twists & turns. Some steep sections with lots of rocks on the downhills. Came across a rattle snake, although they can be anywhere. Fun sections and a good work out.

Review: The black, Cloud 9 trail is short, but a blast! If you're up for a technical ride with actual elevation gain/loss this is one of the best places in Northern FL. The blue leading up to it is a little boring but I guess it's a good warmup

Review: Who was to know? This trail was a blast, it had a little of everything from fast and flowy to very steep and technical. The Black sections were great and resembled the ANT HILL section of Santos....but tighter and tougher. The blue were fun and fast with very little sugar fro being so close to the beach. If your in the area and like a challenge be sure to take the time for Mala Compra.

Review: What a great trail! Like Graham swamp without sand and a bit more technical. Cloud nine is great run. The trail markers are not the best but the expert and intermidiate runs are well seperated. This is one of the best runs in north FL.

Review: Was in St Augustine for the 4th and decided to give this trail a try. What a sweat trail in the middle of the beach! We avoided "Cloud 9" as not everyone was ready for that and some went around a few crossings/bridges, but overall a great trail even though those palmetto knees/roots can be brutal!
Review: Good firm surface with very little sand. In some areas the trail has some different routes based on difficulty and I had a little bit an issue determineing which way was what in some parts of the trail. I rode it while it was raining so on a few of the climbs it was slick but that is to be expected overall it was a good trail there were a few roots that slow you down but I did not find them to be a great nuscence middle part of track is deefinetly the most technical part of the track.
Review: Great trail run. Maintained very well with all of the bridges in excellent shape on both trails. The intermediate trail is a bit technical in some place which adds to fun but a quick pace can be easily kept. The expert trail is truly an expert trail with huge drops and many jumps, I wouldn't recommend it unless both you and your bike are in excellent condition. All of them are terrific trails and would recommend everyone going that gets a chance.

Review: I have rode this trail a half dozen times or so and like it more with each ride. The beginning and end of the trail could use a few more technical obstacles but I consider them the warm up and cool down for the real fun! In the middle is the challenging section which is loaded with narrow trails shooting up and down compact hills with tight turns and rocks and stumps attempting to stop your roll! Lots of fun and very challenging!

Review: Went and checked this trail out Sunday A.M. Joetutt is right, this is a fun trail. Following the blue blazes on the trees I started wondering 'What in the blue blazes'(pun intended) did we ride an hour & a half to ride a trail just like LBE, that all changed when we got to the turn my partner called the Daytona 500 high bank, a 12' high swoop that you can nail quite fast and high if you know its comin, after that I thought we had warped to Loyce(Cater park),climb,drop,climb,drop,WWWEEE! Trail got alittle confusing to follow here but fun, lotsa elevation and good use of it, good work guys. After a beatin in that section I came to believe 'Mala Compra" meant many Palmetto roots, holy crap wear a kidney belt! That section needs some help and I think they followed a snake out. All in all We had fun. The ridgeline was cool especially lookin down on the paved trail and wavin at the couple ridin it. This trail will only get better, and I highly recomend ridin it. Then the beach is right there too. I gave it a 4 cause of the roots.
Review: Really fun trail! The beginning and end are a bit uneventful, however, the middle is packed full of fun. Great little technical climbs with some short sweet descents/drops, a few bridges, and a really great ridge line section and all hardpack. The end is just littered with palm roots for a quite while and honestly theres so much it gets a little annoying. It's still a young trail, with some work at the front and back it will be a really great trail.
