Mountain Biking Lake Storey Trail System

*****   Add a review
#24 of 128 mountain bike trails in Illinois
#2,667 in the world

Lake Storey Trail System is made up of various single track loops, connected at times by paved bike path or open grass sections. The trails traverse numerous drainages around the lake. They are tight and flowy with various wooden features added to keep things interesting. A large portion of LSTS traverses within feet of the lake edge, providing beautiful views while riding.

The park is open till midnight, so night riding is open all year long. Trials are meticulously maintained by a local group of riders all year long, regardless of season. They are built by mountain bikers, and used by riders and hikers a like. Trails are true single track, and built to be mountain bike trails. You can always bet the trails will be in great shape, and ready to rip! Call the local bike shop, Ride & Run, for trail conditions and any questions you may have. Lastly, as with any trail, don't ride when it's wet!

Getting there
Lake Storey Trail System is easily accessed by parking at the dam parking lot. If heading on Interstate 74 towards Galesburg, take US 34 exit west, towards Monmouth. Next, take exit for US 150 west toward Alpha. Heading north, cross over Lake Storey and make a left on North Lake Storey Road. Follow this for approximately 1.5 miles. The road will curve south and go downhill over a creek and back up hill. Dam parking lot is at the top of the hill on your left.
