Description
Take the Old Mill trail (double track) at the end of the parking lot near the CCC museum. Cross State Park rd and follow the signs to the blue Mt bike trails.

There are 3 possible loops, Lake view 1,2 and 3. Follow the signs from LV1 to LV2 and then the signs from LV2 to LV3 to make the whole loop. LV1 is 5 miles, 2 is 8-9 and 3 is 11. There are red technical reroutes (for those who want more of a challenge) that meet back up with the main trail. Overall another great trail at Pocahontas.

Review: The lake view trails are fun, I probably wouldn't do them again over the main mtn biking trails off of the Old Mill Trail though. Pretty flowy with some rock gardens and a long log skinny thrown in. Few jumps here and there if you see them. Would recommend for beginner and intermediate. If you're an advanced rider though, you can have a good time if you pedal on the downhills.

Review: Nice trail complex. Very X-Country ish. Would work on a single speed really well too. Not too much elevation change. I rode about 20 miles between the single track in the NW corner and the Lake Trail and only climbed a total of 1000 feet. The trails are smooth and hard packed. I would term it intermediate and beginner trails but it is a great cardio if you ride it hard. Not too much technical challenge except the area called Little West VA. The MTB trails in the NW corner are tight and twisty with some challenges. The Lake Loops are really smooth and flowy. Nicely designed for intermediate and beginner riding. And fun for an advanced rider looking for training. Not a destination to drive to but certainly worth the visit if you are in the area or driving bye. Miles of single track but you have to use the map to find it.

Similar Trail: Similar to Preddy Creek and James River. Very smooth and hard packed. Not a ton of elevation change. Fun for the family. Can be a heck of a work out if you ride it hard.

Review: I'm not a really experienced rider but i've started riding the red off shoots on this trail. Their are some pretty fun bits. Also LV 3 is defiantly worth checking out. There is a pretty fun zig-zag through a stream bed and some other cool stuff. Check it out if you visit PSP.

Review: Um, I think you guys are talking about the main MTB trails by the CCC Museum off Old Mill Trail. This review is about the Lakeview Trails (which - according to the map) are over by the Algonquin Ecology Camp. Enter Pocahontas State Park at the main gate. Once thru the gate, hang an immediate right and follow that road (East State Park) down to the cabins. You'll see signs for Lakeview Trails along the way. Park in the parking lot for the Ecology Camp and ride back out to the trail sign. That is Lakeview One. It will meet up with Lakeview Two and so on. These trails are a lot of fun. I just got back this afternoon from Pocahontas and had a blast riding these trails. LV1 is a lot of fun, with a few whoop-de's and some log crossings. LV2 is also fun, and a little more challenging with rock gardens, log crossings, etc... I ran out of oomph and couldn't do LV3 though.

Review: I ride these trails every week. 10+ miles for lakeview 1,2 and 3. These trails are alot of fun. There are several challenging obstacles including log piles, rock gardens, and some spots where you can get nice air. I dont really recomend for beginners but these trails are a blst for more experienced riders.

Review: I have ridden both Lake View I & Lake View II. These trails are very different in several ways. Lake View I has the Green(Beginner), Blue(Intermediate) & Red(Expert) trails. Normally, I ride the Blue or Red & it has your normal log crossings, some short climbs & so forth. If you go about 2 miles in on the Blue, you run into an Expert offshoot that is known as Little West VA--This is definitely challenging & has several log rides, jumps, whoops & some other technical log crossings. Lake View II is mostly a "blue" trail but has a lot more climbs & has a few little obstacles here & there. Overall, both sets of trails are a good workout & fairly well marked. One word of caution--Check before driving out to ensure the trails are open. When they get rain, they close the trails frequently to avoid damage.
