Description
This trail starts out easy and becomes more difficult as you climb higher into the foothills. There are detailed marker posts along the way to guide you to the multiple loops in the area. The best trail for those who love a good workout and some fairly challanging single track is to follow the markers to the kestrel trail which climbs gradually at first and soon turns to a more aggresive incline followed by ridge riding for about 3 miles. At this point you can take the Sidewinder trail which is a rugged dirt and sand singletrack carved out only by those who have gone before you, as its name says it twists and turns as it climbs into the clouds and towards the treeline. Once you reach the top of sidewinder you can continue up if you so choose on trail #4 or begin the decent on trail #4 by turning to the left, this connects with the Hulls gulch trail. This again is an aggressive singletrack downhill with plenty of bumps and rocks to manuver around. In general the ride would be suited for anyone familiar with basic downhill riding and a good cardio routine in place beforehand. As this is one of the most popular rides in the Boise area it is known to the locals as the freeway and you will always have company during the 2 hour trek.

Review: Kestrel is great for beginners and will always be a favorite ride for anyone! Sidewinder and Hulls Gultch are both legs of kestrel providing uphill switchbacks, long uphill climbs and fast downhills including both tabletops and steep jumps.

Review: This is a busy trail but that's because it's a little mix of everything: rolling jumps, long slow steady up hill climbs, steep climbs exciting downhills and some technical riding all within 8 miles. This is one of my favorite loops.

Review: This is a good intermediate run because of the good climbs and the fun downhill. It's a little technical down through the Gulch but an all around fun run to do alone or with friends.

Similar Trail: Shane's loop - a little more challenging than this one but similar in Miles.
