Description: Trial starts off somewhat techincal, winding trough a maritime forest in a tight doubletrack. Then opens up for an emergency acess road, turning back into the woods, where it is fairly easy, riding an old sand dune ridge. There is then a hard left, then a right, then it becomes difficult. You traverse old sand dunes riddled with live oak roots. Finally, you come out of the woods at the visitor's center for a casual ride back to the parking lot on the park road. Mind this trail is a multi-use trail. There are other trails in the park, but not as long as this one. There are also unmarked trails that the park service discourage's the use of.

Its definitely OPEN. most of the trails are super beginner. You can haul but on them but they are flat. There is one trail closer to the main road that is half way ruined due to recent fire trails cut right through it. You have to find the sweet spot right in the middle and from there toward the lighthouse is pretty technical. some of the hills are ridiculous steep climbs. I go about every weekend with my state pass. enjoy the beach and picnic areas afterwards. Oh and tons of ticks all year around!!!

Went for a miserable ride a few weeks ago. Noticed on the sign after the ride that the trail is closed (I think indefinitely).

Weak trail for avid MTB Riders, but a great place to take the family for easy off-road treks to observe the natural beauty of this place.

This is a good course for the Lowcountry. It's worth a ride from Charleston or Sav. Old dunes create some ups and downs. For a short technical ride I suggest riding from the camping area to the beach, but you can start the trail from any where on the island. There is also a nice scenic route if you start from the pier and head towards the lagoon. You can ride that trail all the way to the beach.
