Park along Spring Street at the north end of White Salmon and ride up the gravel road to the trailhead just past the cattle pens. Cross the little creek, climb a tough, rocky little switchback up to a gravel drive, cross the drive to pick up the singletrack on the other side, and ride a nice, tight, technical connector trail up to the gate. Go through the gate, turn left downhill, then a quick right after the bridge. Cross the next creek, then ride uphill for about 2 miles along the shady, aptly-named Evergreen Highway. Cross the logging road at the top, and explore! Spectacular views await. Smooth, very fast trip back downhill makes up for all the climbing. This is a trail of mixed difficulty - some parts are easy, and others are hard, but most of the harder parts can be avoided or walked. The harder options are generally the trails branching off the main route. A fun trail for intermediate through advanced riders, but a beginner with a can-do-it attitude will still have a good time. Not for folks who don't like (or aren't capable of) sustained climbing, even though the grade for the most part isn't that steep. A very good choice on a hot day.
Similar Trail: No two trails in the Gorge are similar, but if you like Hospital Hill, you'll like 8-mile, Surveyor's Ridge, and High Prairie, all of which are off of 44 near Mount Hood.
