Description: It used to be a motorcycle trail until it deteriorated too badly, then they handed it down to the mountain bikers. Since it is the ONLY trail of significant length in Baton Rouge (8-10 mi), it is overused and in pretty bad shape. It's hard dirt when its dry; mud & slime when its wet. LOTS of big holes and roots - I hope you have suspension! The Hooper rodetrails are actually maintained by BRAMBA (Baton Rouge Mountain Bike Association) members. They do a great job of maintenance and upgrading. The trails continue to grow and improve. While some are quite technical and challenging, they are rarely a mess. When they are dry, as they are this month, they're awesome. Contact: mailto:jpgagne@ix.netcom.com

If you haven't ridden this trail lately, come back and give it a try. New signage and re-routes have made the trail much easier to follow. More technical than the nearby Comite trails. Some sections appropriate for beginners. Other sections will surprise you for south Louisiana riding.

This is a pretty nice trail which is somewhat overgrown in places and is washed out in other place. This trail is not as well marked as the Comite trail. If you can learn this trail, it can be a lot of fun.

This is a more technical trail than nearby Comite. Better bike handling skills are needed to enjoy the trails. It also appears to be less maintained/used than the Comite area. It is still ridden on a regular basis and host to area races. If you are wanting to make your Baton Rouge area ride more challenging then you should ride at Comite and take the Connection Trail (along the creek) to Hooper Rd.

Overall a decent trail for South Louisiana. It's has less of a BMX feel than Comite.
