Description: I've heard these trails are fast and have little elevation change. I've been there twice but each time the trails were closed due to trail conditions (wet). These better be some pristine trails to be closed so often and seemingly without much cause. Call the parks department first to make sure the trails are open because these trails are far away, no matter where you live.

very very fun trail. broken up into 4 loops. from beginner to double black diamond. very challengeing trail halfway through the advance where it splits to the double black diamond. great place to take a friend for their first time and show them how the progressions work. id rate it for beginners even thought it does have some advance trails. more intermediate beginner stuff then experience rider stuff.

I really enjoyed the smooth, fast trails here. It's pretty good for the flat part of the Carolinas.

Trail is definitely built for and caters to beginners. It is fun anyway and I think it flows well. Most of it is not technical at all and the hills are manageable even for the newest riders. Make sure you call ahead or check the Traingle MTB website for trail status before you head out. This trail is closed alot especially during the winter it stays closed for weeks at a time sometimes. Also please know that this trail can be very crowded, especially on the weekends. Please don't head out here on crowded days and try to pound everyone out of your way. Nothing wrong with riding hard, but chill out a little when you encounter others on the trial.

Great for a speed / endurance ride. There are some above average obstacles on the advanced course...ride fast, get air. This course is designed for almost all riders as obstacles can be avoided via alternate trails.

A very nice flowing trail, definitely made for beginners. Wasn't really what I wanted. I was hoping for steep climbs and fast downhill sections. There are some tight sections going between trees, but nothing too technical.

Well maintained with lots of little stuff to navigate on the intermediate loops. The advanced loop is not much more difficult, except that the obstacles are tougher. Hardly any climbing but lots of twisting through pine trees. Some nice whoop-de-doos on the back side. Nice park with indoor plumbing

I think these are some of the best trails in the Triangle. The trails are very well maintained and well marked. Great mix of beginner and advanced, with tons of great whoop-de-doos.

this is a great trial. the beginner and intermediate sections are not hard at all but the expert section was lots of fun. there were definitely a lot of opportunities to get air in the back section. the ground is tightly packed and the trail is impeccably maintained. the expert section had a bunch of of whoop-de-do's and there a couple of tight plank crossings. towards the end of the trail, there's a 2 1/2 ft ramp to get serious air. warning! when jumping, watch out for the trees...one came out of nowhere and hit me.

Rode this trail in the early evening, when it was a cool 65 degrees and sunny. Beautiful. Superbly maintained, well-marked, and huge fun. For advanced riders, these trails really aren't that challenging, but since I'm not one of those, I loved it. The short easy loop and longer intermediate loop are fast and fun, and the advanced loop is great, with the only difficult parts (for me) being the long whoop-de-doo section. I didn't see another soul during my hour-long ride; this is what it's all about. Great trails for beginner - intermediate, but advanced riders/adrenaline junkies will probably be bored. Definitely call to verify trails are open.

Hit these trails for the first time this past Saturday. Our group consisted of a veteran MTBer, myself (not quite so experienced), a first time rider and my 10 year old, very active and very much wanting to try harder trails, son. All had a good ride. The beginner trails are a beautiful way to intorduce someone to biking and a fun way to spend time in the woods. Teh advanced presented some fun, though not difficult obstacles, that also had go arounds for those not inclined. Teh best part of the day was my son repeeatedly asking "Can I try that?"... Of course I said yes. Great trails for a fun afternoon. Twisty, pretty, well maintained.

Did this ride when living in Durham. There is a group that would do night rides out there. Very fun with sweet, twisty, carolina singletrack.

Similar Trail: Sanford area trails. The piedmont area is great for singlespeeds.

Definitely easier than New Light if you are comparing. However, living on the south side of raleigh makes these a definite frequent ride.
Well maintained. Dogs not really welcome. Lots of little stuff to navigate on the beginner and intermediate loops. The advanced loop is not much more difficult, except that the optional obstacles are tougher, and the back side bowl is really fun. Best part is definitely the bowl on the back side. you can also make some short loops near the bowl along the lake w/ some good terrain (little drops).

Not one of my favorites. Well maintained trails but be sure to call before you go because they are closed when wet. Hardly any climbing. Lots of twisting through pine trees. A few nice little playgrounds scattered throughout with whoop-de-doos. A few new sections just added. Although maps are available it was still a little hard to follow. Nice park with indoor plumbing.

The three loops make this a great set of trails. The beginner loop is too short, but the other two make for a really fun and fast combo. Not much in the way of elevation change, but a really good time with lots of opportunity for air.

A nice ride, and I will return to it. I rode first thing in the morning, through the parting mist. It made for a really nice setting. The trails are rated beginner, intermediate, and advanced, although there was nothing here that I'd put in the advanced category. The trail has great flow, and you can build up some speed -- until the sharp turns. The bowls are really fun... the highlight of the trail. Definitely worth a drive up to an hour.

Similar Trail: Layout of the park reminds me of Beaverdam, though Beaverdam is a slightly more technical ride.

Well groomed, and fun at best. Much better ride if the loops were marked to define the route, it is almost like a free ride area. There are so many cutouts that it is hard to not overlap yourself and it makes it inconsistent for those of us who ride for time not just pleasure. The definition of advanced is used lightly. The one great thing, is the ability to get some air. That is what a lot of the other trails lack. \"My opinion\"

I enjoy these trails and plan on returning regulary. Beginner trail is way too short (5 minutes), intermediate is a little bit longer, but the advanced trail is where to head to. Not as long as other places I've been. Advanced has lots of steep dips that are challenging. Not much change in elavation overall. As mentioned before, always call ahead. They tend to be a bit conservative on trail use.
