Description: there are maps available in teh parking lot. There are several miles of singletrack not on the map. But if you can get a race map that will have the additional trails. Grab someone who looks like they know what they are doing and ask them where the cool trails are. One starts/ends off the main rd. across from the sawmill, follow the gravel road into the swamp and up the hill. Nice trail, very susceptible to mud, goes to the top and hooks up with even more singletrack. The other newer trail is off the main road again on the left. It is right at the power lines and you turn left at the power lines and immediately left again onto the trail, look for tire tracks. Double back next to the road and then up the hill on really nice singletrack. There are many many many many trails here all designated for different uses. It is easy to be confused so grab a map and have fun exploring. Don't sweat the use designations too much, the management loves mountain bikers and if you have to get back you have to get back. check out bikeloft.com and the CNYDIRT page for group rides. These guys made this place what it is. Oh, lots of mud if it is wet. i haven't ridden there in a long time because of this, bad year. But usually this is everyone's favorite place to ride.

Highland Forest offers more double track trails than single tracks, but there are sections of single tracks with technical sections. You have to keep an eye out for the single tracks, because I didn't find these well marked. The double tracks were very well marked. It's a very easy location to find. The MTB trails double as cross country ski trails in the winter. As a beginner, I liked having the well marked maps available at the trail heads. The lodge is also a great place to hang out when you are done - great scenery.

Muddy, main trails were ruined by ATV wheels tracks. Some trails closed due to Goshawk nesting (very aggreesive bird). Would have been much better if dry.

Rode here first week in Sept 08 and its was lots of fun. Good challenging ride. Looking for the side trails is a must, or you may be bored if not.

Highland is a great place to ride...If your looking for more challenging trails keep your eyes peeled for the unmarked side trails and hook into one.

Good trails, but super muddy. Grab a trail map.

Been here, nice, muddy, unlimited possibilities, a little too organized for my taste.
