Description: Twisting, rooty singletrack loops through Georgia pine forest. The main or "advanced" loop is about 8 miles all told with a couple options to make things easier or to shorten the ride. Bring a map or a friend - this place can be confusing despite the (minimal) signage. This trail will host a Dirty Spokes 6 hour race in 2009.

New, flowy singletrack reroute around the old doubletrack downhill (i think it's to make room for the new horse trails in the area)... it was a nice downhill, but the new singletrack is quality. decent trade off, all things considered.

I agree that it is easy to get lost but this is one of those trails where that didn't bother me. Just go out an explore. It is a bit rooty but other than that it was enjoyable. This is 1 of only 3 trails that I've ridden in GA so far and the only one I would recommend. You can get some speed on downhills, there are some gradual roller coasters, and the climbs are challenging but not impossible.

if you just follow the orange/red signs traveling in a clockwise direction it isn't difficult at all to follow this trail. i don't, however, know where any of the easier options go and where they hook back into the trail.

Rooty, tight singletrack that opens up in portions to give you a little breathing room. Follow the advise of others who have posted and bring someone who has been here before or get a gps map of it if you can. I almost still got lost riding it with 2 guys who have been there at least 10 times! The entire trail consists of short climbing bursts followed by a downhill reprieve. It's shaded but don't think, for one instant, that the shade will protect you from the GA humidity. Hydrate well if you want to do this one in the summer.

Great single track! Challenging loop but not too technical or strenuous. I was very impressed by the trail! Pretty easy to follow although some signs are down. I will definately be going back!

Good singletrack here, try it if you live in Atlanta/Athens area. Some roots and rocky sections, 1-2 stream crossings, and only one fallen log. Totally rideable for beginners, no serious climbs but be prepared for a few short uphill bursts.

Good mix of challenging terrain mixed with fast, flowing singletrack. Short climbs and descents and plenty of mileage to give you a good workout without seeing the same trail over and over. Fairly rooty trail and difficult to follow at times.

Similar Trail: Reminds me of eastern NC singletrack at places like Little River in Durham and Beaver Dam near Raleigh.

please note, this trail, and this trail: http://www.singletracks.com/php/trail.php?id=573 are in fact the same trail. My review: A very nice ride, with sweet singletrack! The trails are just straight up beautiful to ride... some technical parts. It's rather tight and winding for the most parts, with a load of ups and downs (like has already been said). And yes, its actually 7.55 miles. But sweet trails!

This trail is actually 7.5 mile loop, not 5. Nothing insane, but enough to keep the heart pumping. The trail flowed rather well. It has a nice, refreshing stream to dip in if you get to HOT!!! Which we did. The temperature was 102 degrees, which made it the only issue with this ride. * Review edited 8/14/2007

The outer red loop is closer to 8 miles than 4. This trail is sweet! Some really vicious climbs and some fast downhills. One downhill section is particularly gnarly if you take the hard route. Trees a little narrow in some places, and roots offer a constant obstacle.

This trail is great. I did 15 laps on 9 mile course they setup one time and never got truly bored. Keep in mind half of the laps were at night. Night Rides here are the bomb. If you like bombing down technical root covered trails into gullies and streams this has a couple. Beautiful and fun. I wish it were closer to Atlanta. Oh wait they would put houses in it's place or pave the trails. I'm glad it's so far away from Atlanta. Way better than Blankets Creek or Yellow River.

I ran these trails, and I could be wrong, but I feel like the outer loop is a good 8 miles. This really through me off because on the Oconee County Parks and Recreation website it says there are 4.1 miles of bike trails. I planned on doing two loops, instead I got one good long one. My first experience would have been better if I had known this. Other than that, the trails are very up and down with a lot of switchbacks. In some places, they are only meters apart (tight on foot, even tighter on a bike). In some areas, you've got dense forest on either side of you, a tight track cut right through the wilderness. Definitely worth a bike or run though, but not if you are a mountain biking beginner.

Very fun trail. Very bumpy, but it does not get borring. Just follow the arrows and you'll be good to go.
