Review: This trail is in pretty sorry condition compared to what it used to be 4 years ago. I used to ride here all the time... now it looks like it doesn't get nearly the number of riders that it deserves, with the singletrack getting very overgrown in places. However, it is still pretty easy to follow the trail, so if more people get out here and ride the trail can be reclaimed!

Review: SORBA Athens and the Boy Scouts just finished working on this trail(july 2011). They added about a mile to it, and cleaned it up!! It should be alot better now. As soon as I get my bike outta the shop, I'm on it!!

Review: Roots, roots and more roots. Hawkes Creek beats you to death. Take the rooty, technical sections of Heritage and repeat them for 6 miles and you have Hawkes Creek. There are only 1 or 2 climbs and they really aren't much to speak of. It's not a horrible trail but there just isn't much flow. You're pretty much guaranteed to put a foot down in a place or two (expecially with the huge downed tree by the creek blocking the trail).

Review: Tight, twisty, and sometimes technical singletrack thrown into a bowl like spaghetti. Bring your explorers hat if you plan on doing this place without a map because there are lots of side trails that loop back around. Pretty rutted out in places and plenty of roots to go around. Flow was off and on as some sections felt like windy old animal trails rather than trails intended for riding a bike. No real climbs or decents to speak of. Not sure where the "9" miles of trails are either. I rode everything I could and the computer only registered about 6 miles. If I were in the Athens area and dying to ride, I'd hit up Heritage Park instead.

Review: Just rode this trail, and there are quite a few trees down along portions of it. Many of them are easily rideable, a couple are pretty big. That being said, this trail is in pretty good shape considering all the recent rain. In addition, my opinion of this trail has changed a lot in the last year. I first rode it after moving here from Montana, and frankly, the vast majority of the singletrack i've ridden in Georgia and South Carolina doesn't hold a candle to rocky mountain singletrack. Considered regionally, however, this trail has become my favorite ride in the Athens area. It is true singletrack, and not any of the super-wide trail you find at places like fort yargo. hawkes creek gets pretty stinking narrow at parts, and it's one of the more technical rides in the area too. However, you can head to North Georgia and find rides way more technical than this really easily. This trail also gets surprisingly little traffic, probably due to the fact that it can be hard to find. But it is so worth it!

Review: Good ride, great use of terrain, real singletrack, don't let the begining trail and open field fool you, it's hard core at speed.

Review: I went out to this trail after reading about it on here. A lot of the signs guiding the way have fallen down, so I didn't know where to go a couple of times, but overall, it was a very fun and challenging trail. A lot of big tree roots and ups and downs.

Review: "Amazing ride" is an overstatement... good ride, yes. Some interesting rocks to go over. Nothing super out of the ordinary, but all in all a good trail.
