Description: Follow the red route marked on the map at the parking area. Once you get to the top of the ridge, you can head down a plethora of singletracks or logging-roads. Once at the top near a scenic outlook, there is one single-track that turns into a very fun rock-garden. Excellent for practicing and playing with technical riding. Coupled with some very speedy descents, the hard climbs are trivial.

This is on the same mountain as the Wolfsburg castle in Neustadt an Der Weinstrasse. He forgot to mention the awsome downhill ride! Theres steps in the paths going down if you go from the rock garden then take the next pather to the left follow down to the fork and u-turn to left, then follow down till a 4 way then take the right, it ends in about 1.5 miles of steep cobble stone thats way fun- you\\\'ll feel like a blender afterward. It ends at the base of a really nice park on the mountain side and from there you take a right to end up back in town. It takes about 20 minutes to get down at about 12mph but its way worth it. The rockgarden at the top is good practice for the beginner and theres a great lookout point onto the valley below with some lovely old rock carvings in the surrounding rocks by the lookout. plus in the summer you can pick blueberries for a snack! At the top of the ridge theres lots of fairly level trails for a brake from the grueling uphill ride. PS: dont get to this place from Wolfs burg castle, its steps up from about a mile, a tought hike even. Get to this from the Naturwald parking area by the Sportsplatz on Im Meisental St. then look at the map, and follow the dirt path (not the paved) in the direction of the look out point. http://www.neustadt-weinstrasse.de/ Click stadtplan on the left for an interactive map (im just sayin great sceenery because im i cant seem to pick a good discription below)

We started at the Wolfsburg ruins this time, and tried to ascend the ridgeline. Tried being the operative word. The climb was deadly, and we ended up walking past massive sandstone outcroppings and boulders. Once past them, we rode up to the rockgarden, played for a while, and then came back down a trail (Blue/White). This trail was super-fun. Interspersed along the trail are small rock drops and double stair-steps. These can be taken at speed, along with all the roots and smaller rocks encountered along the way. It's too bad the downhills are so quick.

We loved the rock-garden singletrack, and we played on it for a good long time. The climbs are punishing, but once up to the higher elevations, things aren't extreme. Still, be prepared, and bring lots of water and comfortable shoes. Also of interest, is a small castle ruin, Wolfsburg. The trail goes off the main loop down the ridge to the ruins, which contain a small snack-bar which is open during the summer.
