Description: This is a pretty fast course with varied trail type. The first mile is pretty fast and not very technical. The entire course is heavily wooded and gets kinda nasty when it rains. The next two miles is fairly technical and not nearly as fast as the trail winds through the woods and across several streams and washed out gullies. The last 1.5 miles is fast and straight and takes you around the entire course once again. For the most part this is down hill and very fast. Towards the very end of the loop, the trail makes its way back up to the parking area. This loop is known as the race loop; Champion loop is another loop that I believe goes around the course staying on the non-technical outer rim used by the race course. A pretty good ride. Similar to San Lee but a little faster.

...OH...and did I mention it was about 98° out when we rode it!!!!!???? Wheww!! Some relief from all the tree canopy though. Oh, and NO Trailhead bathroom available, just in case.

on our visit to NC, this was our first NC MTB'ing. A bit hard to FIND it, because there really are no signs. But once we spied the actual trail alongside the road, we found the parking 'field'!! It was a NICE, ~3 Mile ride. Good elevation changes. We did go the wrong way at first, but once we corrected, it was a nice ride. Only one harry rock-garden descent. Other than that it was a good intermediate trail.

Wonderful local ride. Rock garden and log table top. GREAT switch back (for the sandhills). **Recommend

This trail is original singletrack. Great little technical switchback.

This is a well taken care of local favorite. It's a fun one to burn a couple hours on.

Rode this trail the other day for the first time in several years. I still love this place. This is simply a "classic" mountain biking trail that reminds me of days before there were any "official" trails to be found. Terrain is fast with a few steep but short climbs. Rooty as can be just like almost all trails in the area. I like trails like this where you need to choose your lines carefully and ride with a bit of grace to stay clean. Also a great place to race against the clock. You can also night ride here which is a HUGE positive. Only negative I will say is to try to avoid this trail when wet. Some trails are fun muddy but this trail is not one of them since many of the places that stay muddy are the steep climbs that will have you walking.

Similar Trail: This trail is similar to the Bike Post trails in Greenville.

This is our second month of riding and we had a great time. Thanks to the locals who helped us get on to the trail

Just to give an update on the trail. Near the end there is a new part with some rocks. Also keep an eye out for tree's that have blown down across the trail. Most of them have a bypass now.

Last time I rode this area was 10+ years ago, It is STILL a ride worth the extra drive. I like the elevation changes. the technical challenges. Someone with a ability in line selection is a definite advantage. My riding partner and I were singlespeeding today.

Lots and lots of roots. One of the better singletracks around the sandhills.

awesome, fun trail. i liked it more than san-lee. i thought it was alot faster, with cool 1 1/2 ft root drops and more opportunities to get a little air. i'll definitely be back. if you live around the Fayetteville area, you've got to check it out.

Man, for some reason, i may just be an idiot, but I couldnt find this trail. I used that link to goole the directions, but oh well. Anyways, if somebody has like a street address for something right next to the parking area, that would be greatly appreciated.

This trail is a blast, just for fun factor is pretty high up on the scale. Not impossibly technical, but a great place for an inexperienced rider to develop or hone skills in path selection and rooted declines. Most of the trail felt like a roller coaster ride through the woods. Surprisingly very little sand for its geographic location, only two small washouts. Well worth the trip.* Review edited 6/2/2007

It has been awhle since I entered a review on this trail, but I ride it often. They have made it a little more technical and longer recently. The trail is alot of fun and has some challenges for everyone. A new part on the outer loop has incorporated switchbacks in the climbs and some quick burst of speed. Experienced riders will enjoy the new challenges and change of pace. I recommend this singletrack to lots of people.

I rode this trail after pre-riding Devil's Ridge. I was already worn-out but I couldn't pass it up. I'm glad I didn't. This is an awesome trail. It's just like any other sandhills trail as far as terrain. The layout is great though, because they use the area to their advantage. The first section has lots of rollers and dips. As it leads out, you are flying through some great areas - sand, pine trees. I forget the name, but you roll into another section along the creek that weaves up and down over some fairly technical terrain. The return ride is as fast as you make it. The trail weaves back and forth for a while and then heads on back to the parking lot. Well worth the trip to ride...

Awful boring trail, stay away. Just kidding kidding. Started biking two months ago and ride it almost every day. There are just a few tough spots but the ride overall has some decent little climbs and run outs.

Very nice little track here. Technical in parts and easy in others. A good mix for both intermediate and advanced riders. Would not recommend wet; wait at least a couple days after a rain as the whole course will be muddy.

Me and my bike buddies ride this trial atleast once a week, very fast, technical and a good ride for even and experienced rider. The good thing is the faster you go the more difficult it get with some tricky turns and obsticals that seemingly appear from no where. the best is to ride 2 laps one in one direction then again in reverse. this trail never gets old for us and always causes one of us to add some new scars

good technical fast single track for the area. the trail is out in the middle of no where so be sure to have a full tank of gas when you head out there.

Great ride!!! Good mix of everything. Easy to follow. Suitable for intermediate and advanced riders. It is obvious the trail is getting some attention based on the new sections. I had to pay attention the whole time!! Would make the trip to ride again. No indoor plumbing:(

I ride Governors quite often.Over the past few months it has gone thru some changes, thanks to the new owner of Fit to be Tried bike shop, and friends of the trail here in Sanford. The recorded length according to my clock is around five miles. Having added some new twists and cutting out some of the old it has given new life to the ride. A couple of technicals have been added which makes an experienced rider appreciate it and a beginner go d--m. I do wish that we had a trail that gave the rush of some wicked downhill speed that us adrenalin junkies could rip. I recommend this trail it has some for all types of riders.

This trail is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. The beginning and end of the trail were pretty quick, and in the middle, there was a choice between going into the difficult section or cutting thru to the easier ending. Great for intermediate and advanced riders.

Not a bad trail, again for beginners. But it is a little more technical and the trail is pretty fast is some areas. Is used as a race course so the trails are very clear of limbs and such.
