Description: This is a pretty new trail system. Just two years old as of this posting. (11/04) There are 5 miles of trails today, and EVMA hopes to get up to 25 miles in the coming years. The trail is very well maintained, with a few man made ramps and several bridges. There is some tight windy short up and downs at the trail entrance. Be prepared to petal, there are some good long uphills, but the payoff is an awesome downhill with a great jump right in the middle. Get some air, lifes too short to stay on the ground!

Drove 2 hours from Fredericksburg to ride here and it was worth the trip. A and B were great xc loops and C had a lot of fun stuff on it. Alot of the drops and jumps are blind (you can't see the other side when you ride up to it) so be careful. The TTFs were a blast. Can't wait to be in the area again.

This was an excellent mix of trails for bikers of all classes. There is a brand new building called the Interpretive Center with trails maps inside if you want them, the entire area is very well maintained and clean. I rode this trail today and there was a good mix of riders and plenty of friendly people offering advice to beginners like myself. I rode the C trail first and there was plenty of technicals available with alternate routes in case you didn't want to hit them. Then rode the A trail which offered a lot of uphill and downhill riding to keep your reactions sharp. A definite must ride and I'll be hitting it as often as I can!

I moved back to my home state of Mass ... with mountains and lots of trails, and I still think of this trail. EVMA did and continues to do such a great job of maintaining the trails and organizing them that I still drool over past rides. Jumps, turns, switchbacks ... its just organized so well.

Check it all out, every trail has something to offer!

Tight and twisting, great for fast singletrack, never came out of the middle chaining, could probably have stayed in the big ring with some extra effort. Lots of technical man-made ramps, jumps and such on the C loop. I rode the A to C loops, an hour total.

I liked this trail quite a bit. It was very well kept and easy to follow with many signs leading the way. I only rode the A trail because it kicked my butt and that was about all I could do but I'm sure the other ones are just as good.

With the addition of E loop, Freedom now has 20 miles of singletrack. At the moment the trailhead is a little awkward due to construction of a new visitor center (Real bathrooms!) but that should be gone soon. A great trail to ride.

Awesome trail with loops for all types of riders. A-D loops are a great start along with some of the freeride bits.

Rode this for first time on Saturday, great overall ride, deceiving climbs, nice tight turns, really keeps your legs and heart pumping. No steep difficult cliembs, more gradual long climbs, c trail had great jumps, drops and whoops. I would drive out for this one again.

Alot of jumps, drop offs, tight turns and switchbacks. Best trail in the Willamsburg area! Full Suspension is highly recomended.

This was the FIRST trail I have ever ridden and it was amazing! Cool jumps...tight turns...and 5ft-8ft drops! It was faaaaaaaaaaaar better than I was expecting! I'll be returing there tomorrow (sept 4 2010).

Williamsburg...this trail is in Williamsburg. EMVA has done a nice job of growing the trail systems and adding TTFs. There are actually 4 loops (A, B, C, and D). A and B feed into each other and together make for about a 6 mile ride. The C loop has a series of interesting man-made obstacles. If you follow it to completion, it will dump you back on to the multi-use trail. I usually ride back up the multi-use trail and finish up with the last 0.4 miles of the A loop (on your left as you head up the hill). That will make for a 5.5 mile ride. The D loop is new. It isn't on the park maps, but it is marked. You can find the D loop by starting out on the C loop and taking a left on the multi-use trail (the one that is closer to the Botanical Gardens). Go down the multi-use trail and across the swamp. The trail sign is on your right just past the swamp. The D trail is another 5 miles (closer to 6.5 depending on what you ride to get there and back). Collectively, you can ride over 18 miles. C loop is probably the easiest of the 4 if you are just starting out. It has a fewer roots than A and B. D is new and does not have the established feel of the other trails.

First time visit to this trail while on vacation in the area. Rode Trail A by myself, 5 miles in 42 minutes. Good decents get you moving fast over alot of roots so good brakes keep you upright. Climbs are good also with some technical areas. Had to stop and reset a couple of times because I missed the right approach to some roots. Played it safe and didn't bother with the 5' drop/jump, just kept cruising on the passing lane. Overall the trail had some challenges and was a fun ride and good workout. Almost rode over a 4'-5' long black snake at one point so keep your eyes one the trail and look out for other critters.

I had a BLAST on this trail. I live in Newport News, so I usually ride trail Harwood's Mill Park trail. This trail is SO different! There are several places where you can get some nice air. I highly recommend this trail for experienced riders, it's not a good place to learn how to ride, because there are several places where you can really pick up speed & there are some spots where you can go over the side if you're not careful. Bring plenty of water & expect to be on it for a good hour. I was on it for two hours, but I kept stopping to take pics (see the images for this trail that i uploaded). There's a nice 5 feet drop at one point & I hope to jump it at full speed sometime, but not until I know the trail better. I'm used to more tame trails, so this one kicked my butt! (in a good way). I wiped out several times, but mostly because I'm not familiar with the trail & I didn't maneuver my bike very well. If you want a great workout & lots of jumps, give this trail a try. The description says it's 12 miles from Newport News, but I started at the Harwood's Mill trail & it was 35 miles away (45 minutes!). So it was WAY further away than I expected, but was it worth the drive? OH YEAH!!!

One of my favorite trails in the area. Something for everyone here. Hats off to evma for all the work they put in. Very fun ride with lots of great obstacles - seems like there is a new one each time I ride!

Very fun trail that has a little bit of everything. Just stay left the whole run and enjoy one of the best trails in the area. Some nice downhills, uphills, ramps, skinnies, moguls, a little bit of everything.

Nothing technical or hard here outside of the man made stunts. Kinda just mindless peddling...nice trail but not nothing to keep you entertained.

Fairly easy trial that is more of an endurance test than anything. However, it is a beautiful ride with some really fun stretches that make this park worth a visit. Not to mention, to date it is free to ride and park! I had a little trouble getting on the main trail the first time around, but once you figure it out you have a blast on this trail. There is a great downhilll section, and some exciting streatches that will leave you smiling. Overall, really a great trail to ride that I never get bored with!

Nice trail. Well maintained and relatively new. Some roots, a few decent climbs, and some fast areas. Switch backs keep you alert. Wear eye protection... lots of sapling branches smack the Sheet out of you.

This is a nice trail system. I have a trail map and will post it soon. Next time I go out there I will take my camera and post some pictures. There are a couple of wooden bridges. Once you learn the trail there are some mounds that you can catch some air off of.

Absolutely one of the better trails on the peninsula, no question. My first time ridding this one and I had to ask myself why I had never come here before, this is one i will definetly return to.

best trail I've ridden in southeastern VA! kickass singletrack with some decent downhill sections....be prepared to climb back up though. There's a few different trails and combinations of loops, so check the trailhead for a map (they're free)
