Mountain Biking Flying Nun Track

****   Add a review
#64 of 387 mountain bike trails in New Zealand
#5,827 in the world

The Flying Nun is a little miracle - ten minutes of intense technical fun for advanced riders. It has awesome swooping berms lined with flat rocks. It is packed with twists, turns, jumps and drops. It's an exhilarating ride that never stops surprising - you'll be smiling from top to bottom.

It's a one way trail but it's very convenient to ride back up the sealed roads to fly with the nun all over again. You could do a lot worse - this is a gem of a little trail - by far the best on the Port Hills in terms of technicality and quite unique in the world of mountain biking.

Getting there
The Flying Nun Track starts at the top of Worsleys Road. By car from Christchurch you would head up Dyers Pass Road and park by the Sign of the Kiwi (a cafe) on the corner of Dyers Pass Road and Summit Road. The track exits right there. Ride south up Summit Road for about two kilometres and then go up Worsleys Road almost to the top. The Flying Nun starts on your right. If you're riding up from the city you could ride up Worsleys Track or Kennedys Bush Track but a better option would be to ride up Rapaki Track then come along tracks that parallel Summit Road, ie, Mount Vernon Track and Bowenvale Traverse Track.
