Description: Trail is a dirt road flat and some hills, but the scenery is awesome. You will see woods, creeks, swamps, marshes, and the trail ends at a beach area for swimming. On a hot summers day it is a great way to be outside and not get too hot riding. There is shade most of the way. The trail is marked very well. About half way you will ride into to a parking lot but just keep going you will see the bridge to continue on the trail which is now a double track dirt trail. Watch out for the sandy spots(keep the speed up or you'll get stuck and have to walk out of it).

If you're looking for bad-ass, tattooed, backward ballcap, rocky, rooty, boast about it in the bar action, this isn't for you and, frankly, no one will miss you. What it does have is an incredibly varied environment, with just about every Midatlantic microecology imaginable. There are areas where you can pick up some speed and swoop through twists and turns, but the trail's all about the nature and the surroundings. If you're really up to it and have the right tires (and an ID card) you can start riding at Cape Henry light to First Landing (crossing Shore Drive - be SUPER vigilant), through the park to 64th St, down Shore Drive, Pacific Ave, over the bridge and along the bike path to Dam Neck, along the beach there, back along the bike paths into Virginia Beach, take in the scenery along the boardwalk then back through Fort Story. Don't write off FLSP simply because it's not a true MTB ride.
