Description: As you enter the park, the trailheads are on the right/left sides of the road about 3 car lengths from the gate. Drive on down and park in the parking area, then pedal back to the front. There are small bridges at creek crossings and one place where the trail zig-zags back and forth across a dry creek bed. You can pick up a lot of speed here and get some air time with speed up on the other side! There are also a few steep ravines, but they have alternate bypasses for beginners. The trail's short enough that you can ride it two or three times and enjoy the fun spots multiple times.

TRAIL REVIEWS   review this trail

Finch Park is a good, multi-purpose trail with plenty of challenges for experienced riders and moderate sections for beginners. As far as I understand, the maintenance is a volunteer effort and it is well-maintained from spring until late fall. This has quickly become a favorite biking trail with the terrain to keep me on my toes and just enough difficulty to get a good cardio workout in.

Similar Trail: Tanglewood (Forsyth County, NC) is similar, but a little easier.

Bad Idea. This trail has not at all been maintained. It has a large over grown areas. Plus it has major spots of poison oak located on the trail itself.

Finch Park trail is a great trail to ride. It's narrow bridge and long hill climbs and tight truns are all great. It want kick your a** but it will make you want to go another lapp.

Similar Trail: Hobby Park , Tangle Wood, Crab Tree Lake

I don't know about the trail, but I just loved Blakeyon2's review. He may have a Davidson County edjumacation, but you gotta love his passion for the sport.

Nice little trail. Met the guy who is largely responsible for building and maintaining and he has a true passion for the trail. In process of expanding now. Rode it 2 times and had a lot of fun playing in some of the more open areas of the trail. A little something for everyone. Trail was real clean and it was dry the day I rode it so it was pretty fast.

first of all i live right next door to the finch park which is an all around awsome park. I have a five thousand dollar jamis bike and i did know about the trails until my neighbor told me. their are many hills and there is a good amount of biking to get back up them there are a bunch of roots throughout the turns. On the north west side of the trails there is a field with a bunch of flat trails that are good for beginers. The trails are located next to a good sized river that can be rode over with the help of a couple six by six railroad ties. which can be very frighting at times. these trails are very fun and kept very clean and i cant wait until but the table tops and rollers into it and add about another 2 miles of riding onto the trail.

Similar Trail: i would recomend the trail that me and my brothers maid behide our house in silver valley it has 4 table tops 2 sets of rollers and has a good set of down hill kickers it was maid with the help of my dads bulldoser if you want to check it out let me know we still own the house i just live in lexington noww

I almost don't want to put this review up so no one finds this hidden gem. Many thanks to those who cleaned this up. It is a great trail, nice and flowing. Today was still a little wet in places, but still fun, I can only imagine it when it is dry. There is one section that can get confusing even with the markings, but hey, it just kept me out there longer for more crank action. Great for XC biking, not many stunts or anything like that. A few hills but nothing huge, gets your heart rate up without being discouraging. As for the difficulty rating, it is actually between "Easy" and "More Difficult".

Similar Trail: much like Tanglewood.

Finch Park is ready to ride it's just a 3 mile track now. By spring of 09 it should be closer to 5 miles it's not packed well yet but is ready to ride. Today it's wet, to wet to ride ,by Monday it should be great to ride.

PEOPLE OF LEXINGTON...we all already love your BBQ, now give riders a reason to visit your fair town and work up an appetite! As you can see in the photos, Finch Park has some real potential to be a fun local trail. Fast, hard-packed trail surface...some really nice ravined terrain where sections of trail drop some 15-20ft and then back up again. If this trail just had some TLC and some decent signage - it would be a blast to ride for local park! I had some wrong turns and had to guess a few times where to go next. From the reviews, I gather there are some more sweet sections I missed on the NW side of the park by the ball fields. Locals...organize, get out there, and make Finch a trail you can be proud of!!

This used to be a pretty good trail before the floods last year. I haven't been there in about 4 months, but it was completely washed out in places along the river. There is a great small half pipe down below the ball field. I hope it is reopened.

Similar Trail: No other trails in Lexington. What a shame.
