Description: This trail is a great example of what South Carolina has to offer. The trail uses every feature possible. The trail is almost completely singletrack except for the few fire road connectors. The first mile or two is weaving singletrack with a few short hills - really fast and winding. The scenery will change as you enter different areas from sandy and lots of tightly spaced pine trees to packed sandy, loamy dirt. The flow of the trail is smooth so you never really lose momentum. The deeper you go in to the woods, the more the terrain switches. Up through mile 7, the terrain is up, down, winding - but just fun to ride. The last three miles comes after you leave the small playground at the back corner of the property. You'll know this because the trail seems to follow the road back to the trailhead. This is one of the those trails where its best to ride AFTER a rain. The first two times I went was after a wet spell and the sand was packed and great to ride. Yesterday was the opposite. Some locals told me they haven't had much rain, so the trail was extremely dry which meant the sand was incredibly loose. There were many corners where trying to manuever at speed was impossible without a tire digging in, washing out and flopping a rider on his head. That still didn't deter me from having a great time, though.

The trail is well marked and definitely a beginner trail. There are patches of sand on portions of the trail and pine needles cover the rest. There is minor elevation changes and I enjoyed a morning ride that gave me a break from traveling on business.

Fun Ride... It was dry, so the sand was tricky.. nice rolling speed, in and out of the pines

I found this trail to be fun , well marked, and a good place for a beginner to start. I will try to increase my speed each time, the trees are kind of tight though. If there are any females looking to ride on Fridays or over the weekends who would like to make a friend let me know. My husband isn't into MB so i'd like to find people who are :)

Nice singletrack but the sand traps and the brush are a killer.

Good trail, kinda reminds me of the Fort Jackson passage of the Palmetto Trail i.e. no extended climbs, some sandy spots but nothing too bad, good bit of pine-straw on the trail. The trail is in good shape and well marked. I didn't find any parts that were all that technical. Lots of tight single-track that twists though the trees and a few fire roads. The pine-straw on the trail kept me on my toes, it was pretty slippery in spots. The trail is not too far from Columbia, about an hour and a half. Good length about 9.5 miles I believe. Thanks to croscoe for showing me around the trail.

Loved the trail nice flow, good climbs. Some of the best riding in the sand hills, well worth the trip. Some sand traps, and the brush needs cutting back in some places, recommend shin gards.

This was my first time on a bike trail. I'm new to riding this sort of terrain so I rode slowly most of the time. I did find myself gaining decent speed down some of hills. Since it was dry today, the sand was rough in a few places, but I still had an excellent time and I can't wait to go back. If you ride this trail, be sure and stop and enjoy the views. Overall, I think that this trail was a great intro of what biking is all about.

rode it today in the rain. best ride i have had on a mountain bike since i moved back to this area from virginia. a lot of work has been done there and it really shows. great job whoever maintains the trail. i went with two other guys and we all agreed it was the best in the area. will go back for sure.
