Description
This trail has few obstacals but has tight s-turns and narrow paths. There are a few short climbs and the scenery is awesome with a couple of picnic tables near the water for breaks. This trail hosts 4 - 5 to five mountain bike races annually. When you finish the route you'll want to ride back down a path next to the soccer field and do it again.

Review: I was pretty happy with the quality of track, terrain, and scenery. The biggest drawbacks to me are primarily the shortness of the trail, though it is easily looped, and the lack of meaningful elevation change but that seems to be expected for the area. I would definitely return but I'll be checking out the other side of the bridge first.

Review: I am a beginner and love it great scenery close to home, well kept, Challenging but doable for a beginner, my only complaint is where the trail got shortened I wish the bridge had been moved to the new crossing

Review: i used to run this trail quite often because it is a quick out and back, generally about 5 miles and 20-30 min. it is relatively easy with a few slightly tricky spots in it, good trail for a sprint workout but still requires you to pay attention to your line. i wish it was longer because it was well kept and had some decent terrain.

Review: Directions: cross James River Bridge. At 1.6 mi. turn right onto Smiths Neck Rd. (VA669), then drive .5 mi. turn left at Reynolds Dr. (VA665), then drive .7 mi. turn right at Nike Park Rd. go 1 mile and park is on left hand side of road. Park in furthest parking lot from entrance and the trail is on left hand side past a wooden split rail fence. Look for a brown parks & rec rules & regulation sign at the trailhead. I ride a single speed geared at 32/21 and this trail is great for single speed MTB and beginners. Also if a rider is trying to practice with clip-in shoes/pedals this trail would be good training ground. It's only 2 miles, but fun and scenic single track mostly along a beautiful meandering marshy waterway. Some roots, leaves, pine on trail. What to look for on the trail: 4 log obstacles to ride over (no option to go around), 4 well-built bridges, yellow arrow directional signs, white spray painted arrows on some trees, red access point signs marked A thru G.

Similar Trail: Lake Maury (Newport News, park at Lake Maury sign at corner of Gatewood Dr. and Warwick Blvd.)

Review: Very short 2.5 mile trail. Fun good for beginner to intermediate. Good Scenic ride with a river, dock, baseball field and skatepark. Some roots on trail which follows river zig zag. Trail does dump you out on the other side with no way back but down road.

Review: Fun trail. It took an easy 15 minutes to ride. The only bad part is it doesn't complete a loop, it drops you out in a confusing manner.

Similar Trail: Lake Maury in newport news.

Review: Fun trail overall. Ride it twice and it will be a good workout. Some very good S-turns, a few log crossings, a few bridges, and a few ruts.
