Description: Busiek was around before Sac River and has a lot of history despite being a simple trail system. Some tough climbs and technical downhills, but mostly it's flat and fast. Go when it's dry, but in late summer some trails will be overgrown. Still, Busiek gets plenty of mountain bike use and was mentioned in an article by Bike Magazine in 1998. You may have to cross a stream or two. There are some clear maps displayed at the trailhead: the west side is the best for a solo ride, the east side is good for stoners. There is a shooting range and a graveyard too, but don't let the gunfire scare you, it's normal. If you are a monster do the Busiek-Chadwick-Swan Creek-Chadwick-Busiek Marathon loop, and then do it in December like my buddies and I did back in '96. Two words: frozen toes. Watch out for the puppy mills. That epic definetly gets a head-knock from me.

Been up to Busiek a few times now since moving to the area a few months ago. Some nice trail with some very challenging terrain. The region had some major flooding last spring, so I'm sure that has something to do with trail conditions. Every slope is loose rock, from gravel to babyhead size. Makes for some challenging to impossible climbs and downhills. All the singletrack is nice though. Same for most of the fireroads. Horses, hikers and bikers share the trail, act accordingly. I haven't even seen half the park yet :)

Similar Trail: Close by would be the white river valley trail system at tablerock lake. Or head to Eureka Springs and check lake leatherwood.

There are some good downhills here. There are a lot of big loose rocks on most of the climbs and downhills so it's very technical. The rivers are almost dried up during the summer and the rest of the year you will get wet since the bridges got washed out a few years ago. There are some good views on these trails also. If you like shooting guns, bring them for the shooting range after your ride.

I love Busiek. There are a lot of flatlands near each parking lot, but once you go far enough either way, you get into some real challenging stuff. All of Busiek is doable for experienced riders, if you are used to rocky terrain. The East side is far more traveled than the West side, but the traffic is still very low. The East side, which is primarily singletrack, would be more hospitable to beginner mountainbikers, while the West, which is amazing doubletrack, is a little more challenging. The long climbs make for amazing downhills. I assert that Busiek has a ton of great scenery and good views, especially the Westside trail that is closest to the rock quarry. You just have to get out of the parking lot. I would not reccomend Busiek to first time riders, or very green ones. Without working up to some challenging trails and getting some experience under your belt, you could have a bad time. But if you like a challenge, Busiek has by far the best trails in the area. There are so many that one could ride there 5 days a week and not get bored. With two sides and about 10-16 miles on each side all I can say is it's the best park I've experienced besides Syllamo (which was built by professional mountainbikers who were contracted by the state of Arkansas).

This trail has about 1 to 2 miles of good trail the rest is lose rock and bad trail. I would not recommend this course unless you really like a lot of lose rock and long climbs.

Rode this trail this morning. Most of the trail is trash (truck paths, really really loose rock, not much to look at) but when you find the actual single track, it was awesome. Great views and tons of fun. some very tough downhill sections. Horses have made parts of the trail very tricky to deal with.

Similar Trail: Took us 2 miles to get to anything good, where as Sac River (Springfield, MO) is all single track and all rideable (plus you don't go up to your knees crossing the river)

Has awesome downhill of the West side of Hwy 65. Its over a mile long. Then on the East side, the dept. has put up flood burns that make for cool jumps on one downhill trail. Remember the more you go up the longer the ride down.

Hey just a brief update for visitors thinking of coming by. I ride this trail all the time since i live near it. The spring torrential rains have washed out a ton of trail. The big steel bridge on the far east side got washed out and was gone a few days ago so you either swim it or enter those trails from the east lot. Most of the hills are jumpled loose rock at this point, but the single track in the high and low areas is still a great ride, and the downhills are technical beyond my skills. The best ride imo right now is the big loop on the west end where you have to hike a steep hill in the middle (15 mins), but the single track at the top is a blast and the backside downhill is scary fun. Go out past the gun range and take the first left to ride this loop. I love this park for its trails!

Little bit of everything if you want to spend the day looking. Some areas have been washed out and are fun coming down, impossible going up. Other areas have been washed out leaving some good jumps. 3 main trails. 1) Red fairly easy some good climbing, narrow fast trails 2) Yellow is a bit harder with a portion of the trail impossible to ride (take the yellow trail shortcut if you want to avoid the creek and the ten minute hike up a very steep, washed out hill; I liked the pain! 3) Silver - supposed to be a very difficult ride but I didn't attempt today.

Similar Trail: Sac River Trail has good riding but it is almost too easy.
