Please go to the local bike shop in Culpeper and obtain a pass for riding here prior to visiting. I rode here on October 30th. I am new to the area and East Coast riding. The leaves are very thick on the ground right now so it was hard to find the trail. The biggest challenge I have found riding on the East coast are the narrow tree lined trails. The Western U.S. has more "oh God, I'm gonna fall off this cliff and die if I don't clean this section" trails. The Eastern U.S. has so far been more "oh God, I'm going to break my fingers and wrists if I catch one of these tree!" sections. So It's been fun trying to adjust to the new challenges. The beginner/inermediate area is broken away from the advanced trail. There are a lot of ways to hook up your ride on the beginner/intermediate side. Many combos. The advanced side is a bit more stratighforward. It was VERY hard to find the trail on the advanced side with all the leaf cover. So it was a slow ride picking my way and trying to figure out where the last rider's tires left a disturbance in the leaves. There is a great downhill on the advanced side. And a really cool "Snake Trail" that "S"s through a dry creek drainage. I couldn't ride the trail quickly enough to get a feel for the flow. But there are a few ladder bridges and log crosses/log rolls. Riding with all the leaf cover teaches you to pay attention to the trail and stop watching your front tire though! The beginner/intermediate side was fun to get a warm up. Good climbs and descents albeit nothing very long. There were quite a few rifle or shotgun shots in the near distance while I was riding. So be careful and wear color. It's a private area dedicated to MTB I believe, but you never know when a deer hunter is going to work a little wide of his planned hunt.* Review edited 10/31/2010

Raced here at the Battle of Burke Farm last summer. I can not vouch for the current condition, but can talk about the trail overall. Good mix of up and down hills with well carved single track. Some sections very rocky, although I did hear that it at least one rider has been able to make it through. Some open field sections necessary to connect the singletrack, but it is worth it. Trail is members only except for the race.
