Description
there has been alot of work with the city to get this turned into a mountian bike park. thanx to the guy with sirbikesalot it is now an awsome network of trail loops. there are a few loops with varied riding levels. it is a nice trail for beginners and more with alot of turnbacks and whoopty whoops. it is mostly flat but makes up for that with technical lines. for more info check out the www.sirbikesalot.com. Review: Stopped in while in the area on vacation.
Great system of trails, very well marked and maintained. Great ride including rooty sections, some short climbs (with roots), and really, really fun rollers and banked turns.
Great training/skill builder run for those looking to improve their riding ability.

Review: First off it does not have huge hills or crazy obstacles. We can't have obstacles for now because the county removed them because someone got hurt some time ago. But we do have a local SORBA chapter now that is dedicated to making the place better. We have done lots of improvements over the last couple months. Almost all of the bridges are brand new and we have done some re routes on the hilly side and beginner side. Yes we do have climbing here not tons but if you ride the whole thing there is well over a 100' of climbing. We also have a pump track there if thats your sort of thing. We have big plans for it but we have to get approval from the county for the stuff we do.

Review: Amazing trails! Was very surprised at the terrain variation and they have maximized the trails very well. Definately a great place to make a trip.
Review: Went to it recently and was bummed to see there are no ladders or any signs of modification left, just a rooty trail. Whats going on guys?
Review: a little something for everyone! the beginner trail is a nice warm-up for the intermediate that has some nice rollers and tech, which leads into some decent switchback climb and descents on the Advanced trail. I was really surprised how much we liked this trail! This trail is a very good workout.

Review: Went out this morning after not going since the spring. I am not a big mt. biker but I ride a lot on my road bike and beach cruiser, and I was wiped out after riding for an hour. I must say they have done vasts amount of work on the trail since the spring. There are many new signs and the bridges look to be in better shape. They still need to add a few more signs to help us novices, but I love being able to go out there. I was dissappointed that the sign in book was gone.

Review: came here from Northern VA earlier this summer. I was super stoked to here bout this place. not much elevation change but hey its wilmington, very technical very fun very fast, despite the lack of hills i had a blast

Review: Rode this trail while vacationing in the area last week. It was as expected, fairly flat and not very technical. No obstacles/jumps. Overall still a fun ride though, very twisty and rooty. Worth checking out if in the area.

Review: ***Please Sign In at Trail head. I was told that they county look at how many us the trail each year, and that depends if they will keep it open and funding it! So help them out and sign in!***
Rode last summer, great ride with a lot of bridges, I did not find the signage helpful. There was not much elevation change but that goes for the area. I would recommend this trail to anyone very fun and exciting and some part with a couple of technical parts to hop on.
Review: I rode the dry section of this trail on 3/24/2010. Per the other reviews, this is a fairly technical trail that requires more finess than speed. I rode 5.6 miles and averaged a little over 6 mph. The local club is doing alot of work on this trail - creating new singletrack and better markers. I look forward to riding the other sections on my next visit to this area. Hopefully, I will have a full susp. by then to absorb some of the "rooty" sections. Review: I am 53 years old and in reasonable shape. I did the entire loop and was wasted by the end. Lots of short hills and narrow trails. Very challenging for me. I had to walk my bike up several of the hills. Lots of switchbacks...
Review: The Blue Clay Road Trails are very technical and definitely worth a trip out. Some of the obstacles and stunts built into the track are very challenging and a lot of fun. This track is not for speed seekers. It is technical not fast. My only complaint is that the trail is not marked well and it is easy to become confused on which way to go to avoid backtracking or missing part of the trail. The trailhead is now well marked and there is a designated parking area set up for the park.
Review: Although there is a strong mountain bike community in wilmington,
this trail lacks a good design. 60% of the trail has absolutely no flow,
while the other 40% is well made singletrack. The trail is in no way short on obstacles, which makes it a tiny bit more interesting.
Review: This is as good as it gets on the Carolina coast. Fun singletrack.
Review: Locals may get bored after 6 or 7 rides here. I was visiting in Wilmington with my brother and we both had our bikes. My brother knew of this place and it made our visit to Wilmington all the better. If you're passing through and have your bike, don't miss it. After you ride it, you'll know that lot's of hard work went into putting it together. My brother and I enjoyed it.

Review: This trail is very nice and great for all levels. Kudos to SirBikesAlot (whom we met while there) for all the tips and the inside scoop on the track.. If your in the Wilmington area, this is a must ride track..

Review: Blue Clay bike park has now added two more miles of single track for a total of 8 miles. Races are becoming more frequent and trails are constantly being improved making BC more and more challenging. There are trails for beginners and advanced riders at BC. Be sure to check out the dirt jumps, and the skinnies on the hilly side.

Review: It is an aerobic workout, even for the beach. I ride here at least once a week and, even though it is only 6 miles long (more coming next winter) it feels like about 10 because of the twisty-turney-rooty-ness

Review: Putting in perspective that you are at the beach, these trails are awesome and you can tell a lot of hard work went in to make them. These are a must ride if you are in the area!
Review: this trail takes advantage of all the geogrophy on the propety. while there is not a lot of climbing, this trail is tight, twisty, rooty, and technical. there are some hills on this land and the trailmaster has done a good job making the best of what they have.the main loop is around 4+- miles, but it will beat you up and make it feel like 10 miles. the guys from the Sir-Bikes-a-Lot MTB group have done alot of work on these trails and now that summer is here the trails are in prime condition.check out www.sirbikesalot.com for ride reports work days and trail conditions.

Review: the new jail is complete and now there are alot more trails being added to the blue clay area.it has been worked out with the city to build a mountian bike trail park here. the guys from the www.sirbikesalot.com web site have done alot of work to get this passed.
Review: Only half of this trail is now useable. New Hanover County has begun construction on a new Jail and the best half of this trail is quickly being wiped out (75% of trail is no longer useable).
